Crean was a horrible plumber too.If he was a real reporter he would have found out Crean cut his own throat with instate coaches. To insinuate that Trayce and his family received money is a flat out lie. Archie is straight up with recruits and their families. Trey Lyles went to Kentucky because his dad held his hand out..
That's what is called a preemptive strike op-ed piece. It amounts to a concession that Illinois can't compete with IU, and so the Illini beat writer has to preemptively explain why.
That's because it's... it's... "not fair".... and besides, it's all Iowa's fault... and it's... "not fair".Loren Tate has to be close to 90 years old. Not sure how sharp he is anymore.
That said, it's interesting I never recall him in the 80's writing what should have been obvious stories on his beloved Illini asst coaches (Tony Yates, then Jimmy Collins') shady relation$hip with Chicago Public League coache$, how Efrem Winters ever got to play there based on his HS academics and their "summer bridge" program that catered specific to football and basketball players.
We have pulled a ton of talent from Illinois historically.ILL has been even less successful than Purdue, historically. Even with the in-state talent rich Chicago and Peoria areas.
Well if that's the case which it's not, then it can be said they paid for Ayo or what ever their 5 star guard name it is. They were 14-18 last year why would the kid want to go there? Oh wait, maybe Underwood recruited him the best like CAM did with the "Shakesperian" Romeo...what a mind blowing concept. Got to love the haters, but this guy went to a new level of douche.
Once I saw Loren Tate's name on the article, I closed the page.
Can't answer that. I just remember him from as far back as the 70s and he has always been the same.I thought he had died. Was he their announcer that was in a wheel chair or was that before him?

when does basketball season start?
Illinois has had more than their share of questionable recruits.Enough said.
big red? you mean nebraska? or is it wisconsin? er...ohio st?This guy obviously has no handle on NCAA rules regarding AAU and amateurism. The laws broken by Colleges and College athletes are not by the sho companies per say. It’s more of individuals in between.(reps, coaches, handlers, managers, agents, talent agency’s etc...) the FBI coruption trials pretty much proved reps from all over the spectrum didn’t exactly have their perspective employers interests at #1. We witnessed that handlers, agents etc. weren’t always steering adidas kids to adidas schools or Nike kids to Nike schools. We saw kids getting pushed to agents who had nothing to do with shoes! He totally simplified the real story. Go Big Red!
Now Courtsense, most people understand those are kids who find it easier to get into IU than UI due to the stringent in-state admissions standards for Illinois residents. You’ve made this fallacious argument before, and it’s no more valid today than it’s ever been. Your narrow life experiences don't allow you to understand or appreciate anything beyond your narrow IU background.A lot of north shore kids came to Bloomington because of Kelley, few were complimentary of anything associated with UI athletics.
Are you serious? How old are you?big red? you mean nebraska? or is it wisconsin? er...ohio st?

Lou Hensen accused Bobby Knight of, "raping this great state of it's talent" many years ago. We had a lot of fun with that statement from Lou Do.We have pulled a ton of talent from Illinois historically.

By the way, it’s “plagiarize”, not “plagerise”. And we enjoy your active participation on the Purdue board, though our mods quickly outed you. Nonetheless, please post as often as you’d like. We understand why you feel the need to be there.
