If this is true perhaps the Logan Act should be considered...

Murphy appears to be a traitorous SOB...

This is completely usurping both the function of the Office of the President and the Office of the Secretary of State...

Going on a fact finding visit or having a quick meet and greet while the guy's in town is one thing..., purposely undermining an international treaty signing is quite another...

I'll leave it to all you lawyers to fill in the blanks but this seems far beyond the pale to me...

That sure sounds like fair and balanced reporting:

The meeting, as the world now knows, quickly went off the rails and ended with Trump angrily ejecting the arrogant ingrate from the White House.
Below is the quote from Dodd, where does it say they advised him not to do this deal?

“Just finished a meeting with President Zelensky here in Washington. He confirmed that the Ukrainian people will not support a fake peace agreement where Putin gets everything he wants and there are no security arrangements for Ukraine,” Murphy’s office posted on X at 11:15 a.m. Friday.
Z has been consistent on not having a deal that loses them two oblasts and Russia free to attack again whenever they want. Nothing in the quote above suggests the Dems did any arm twisting, cajoling, threatening, bribing. Based on that article, they could have asked and he could have given them the same answer he has always given.

Imagine for a moment FDR telling Churchill he has to accept whatever treaty Hitler sticks in front of him, and, oh by the way, we want India. It wouldn't have required any coaxing for Churchill to find that unacceptable.

It was an opinion piece, hence the huge OPINION notice in the bright red box...

I clearly stated "If this is true" in the title of my post... (and I'm Very interested to find out if it happened)...

No one said, or implied, anything about the link being "fair and balanced"... That wasn't a FOX News link...

I asked for a lawyers opinion on my opinion of an Opinion piece...

I understand the security concessions concern on both sides of the argument but Z was supposedly here to sign the agreement not renegotiate it... Someone gave him the bright idea that he had a lot more leverage than he actually has... Sure sounds like that someone was Congressman Murphy (the same guy gleefully running to the microphones after the deal fell through)...

It looks like a set up alright..., a set up by Murphy and pals to embarrass Trump... In the process Murphy and friends have become complicit in causing another 1,500 casualties every day the war continues past a Cease Fire....

Now I understand why Vance was ticked off at the little weasel...

I does seem like the meeting with Trump has deepened the resolve of our (former?) European allies to support Ukraine.

Hopefully JD and Trump don't decide to back Russia.

Advice: combining "I'm only saying if..." with a bunch of harsh conclusions that depend on that if being assumed true makes you look like a hack.

That's a good thing in my book.... Let Europe pay for it as long as it continues and provide the security guarantees... Our contribution could be the Real Time Intelligence Updates; sort of an electronic trip wire if Putin wants to try again in 2030...

I had/have a great deal of sympathy for Ukraine but we've helped them stem the Red Tide and its time to take the next bitter step of accepting that much of what Putin gained in terms of territory probably isn't coming back...

We have our own problems to consider and the way things are going we'll be the next Greece in a few short years... The money tree is sick and possibly dying...

I like Z the warrior a lot, can't say I care much for Z the confrontational begger...; he's the type I feel sorry for but purposely go on around...

We should always only wish Russia the worst (without actually saying so publicly just prior to negotiating with them)...

Trump doesn’t need a lot of help to embarrass himself

I think there is way too much foreign policy playing from those unauthorized. If not directed by the Prez take a hike and go straight to jail. Slippery slope though as DJT himself was doing such with Netanyahu pre and post election prior to taking office.

The framework for the minerals deal didn’t have any security guarantees. So why did Zelensky show up to sing it?

I agree. If true, that would shed a new light on it.
