that finishes 7th in the Big next year, gets a 11 seed and loses in the 1st round. Would you get rid of him at that point, or would that type of season make you believe he has righted the ship, and better days are ahead.

Depends...

What did the team look like overall? Did they transition at all towards a more balanced roster? Did they show any sort of improvements in consistency? How many players would he have returning? Did he land anyone like Haralson?

Without the details, I'd say most likely that scenario would lead me to firing him with that type of season. That wouldn't be a big enough improvement, I wouldn't say...without some of the above circumstances obviously trending upward...to keep him.

IU probably keeps him. He was safe after this past year and making the tourney is an improvement. I’d guess there is a decent chance this happens with the NIL commitment and mix of targets in the portal. We’ll get some guards this time.

Also have to consider what the recruiting looks like end of next year, but this is a smaller factor with our admin.

I’d move on but my opinion doesn’t matter.

If he builds a S16 team or better, he gets more time. Just getting to the tourney isn’t enough, unless he builds a team and shows tremendous promise for improvement moving forward. I highly doubt this works out and will end up being a wasted season.

Agree.

And for me, regardless of next season, the one thereafter currently looks bleak, which is reason enough.
