If no LQ, then what do we do?

We win this year, if not then that might be it for Archie. Not much guard talent coming in and with the pathetic offense we showed this year I don't really blame them. They have to prove it on the court, if they do then the recruits will come, if not then It might be time to look in another direction.

With all the 1 year grad transfers - there really is no logical excuse for wasting a scholarship.

I get not wanting to take a 4 year guy that ties you up.
There have been many grad transfers shooting guards on the market and we have been listed with none of them. Instead we are going after high school guys and getting none of them.

There has to be a grad transfer out that could help with depth at least. Someone willing to play a role at a big ten school. I still think we will use one scholarship, of the two for next year. I don’t who it will be, but I can’t see both saved when Hunters health is still uncertain.

Timeout. So you are not one of the guys crying about us taking Fitzner? Because there's been tons of complaining on here about "wasting" a scholly on him for a year.

Not me.
You will have a hard time finding a post of mine being negative towards any player.

We can still pick up a grad transfer and/or a transfer. We may not use all 13 or have 13 that can play this year. Without too many injuries, I would go with the 11 players we have and focus on 2020 and 2021. The assumption would have to be that the staff has a strong indication that Hunter will be 100%. We will need some preferred walk on bodies and possibly a transfer to run the scout team.

Archie would rather play with 11 guys than pick up a player to occupy a seat on the bench and whine about not playing. He has said that in the past. Good transfers that could practice and sit a year would not upset me.

Archie should focus on next year or may not be employed for 2020 & def not 2021 would be one assumption.

The main problem IU has is it does not allow special admits for grad transfers. Meaning they have to actually get accepted for some sort of grad program at IU, no special treatment.

IU allows special admits, like almost every other school for incoming freshmen. Tons of our players would not qualify and need a special admit. The grad pool is cut down by way over 50% I would say because we don't allow special admits, almost every other school does.

IU shoots itself in the foot, again!

From Miller's introductory presser when asked about his roster management philosophy:
Well, I think in this day and age with the fluidness of the NBA, early departures, also the transfers that happen, in my estimation, it's not to your full advantage to have 13 guys that are (eligible to play) on scholarship. You're not going to play 13. You may have 13 on scholarship and have a couple guys, whether they transferred in (and have to sit out a season), ... or you redshirt a potential kid. There's some of those. But I don't think we want to be a team that straps ourselves and limits options. ... We're always going to be comfortable playing between nine and ten guys, and if you have 12 or 13 on scholarship, you're probably going to see some unhappy guys, and sometimes less is more in that.

Wouldn't surprise me if he sits on them.

I'm pissed about Watford, but I think we dodged a bullet with Quinones.

I'd prefer students who earned their way. It is supposed to be student-athletes not the other way around.

That is
This is a disaster. Apparently we can’t find anyone who wants to play for us.
It is shaping up to be. I honestly thought Archie was going to get a few shooters this spring. Most of the good grad transfer have already committed now

Id prefer to win and I fully understand that it is does not have anything to do with student athletes. That is a sham, and the NCAA backs up my statement in how they run college basketball. All about the Benjamins baby.

Complete and utter DISASTER....that would completely vanish if this team wins, which it can. Are you a weatherman, by chance? Everything is a DISASTER in Douchelandia. Jeeeeesus.

Reading these posts, I've come to the conclusion that we have the program that we deserve.
The NCAA is corrupt, and they don't give a damn about Indiana, or whether they are elite.
Bet they'll care when people begin to do something else with their entertainment dollar though.
I use to watch all sports, now I only watch IU basketball, and not for much longer.
These are no longer athletic competitions, they are productions!

When more people wake up and start boycotting games, changes will be made. Then, and only then, will real change happen.

That’s a big if. To somehow start winning with a team far less talented than we had last year, and likely less talented than we had 2 years ago. So Archie’s worst roster will be his best team on the court? I’m skeptical.

IU is like the Cubs. It does not matter how bad we are people still pack the arena, and Fred Glass knows this. That is why the admins have the attitude they have. As long as Assembly Hall is full that is all they care about.

It hasn't been full in years. It is embarrassingly empty compared to pre-Crean times.

I don't want to build for one good year and suck for the next 2. I agree with Archie's process to build a sustainable program and roster with a proper balance.

We did it your way for 9 years and it left us with a depleted roster that will take many recruiting classes to correct.

What should IU do if they don't get this one player? I guess, based on the Negative Nellie's and Chicken Little's that permeate this site, they should just fold the program. What choice do they have?

There was a day when returning players grew up, learned the system, got better and the team improved. I guess that's not an option.

Creans first year was a depleted roster. Archie was left with enough talent to make the ncaa. You disagree with that?
