All the Musk animosity shows me is just how thoroughly f-cking stupid most are. Here’s a guy whose only major sin is agreeing with Trump about how inefficient, costly, and wasteful government is. (Something that we all should know). His recognition of the problem and no- bullshit technical way to fix it has led millions from Sheryl Crow to normally intelligent posters here to belittle, insult, and threaten him. Why? He is doing a helluva job even if people are not self-assured enough to recognize it. There simply is no way to give the country a kumbaya group hug and do what needs to be done.

Meanwhile, Space X is doing amazing things. The raptor enigine is the world leader in rocket science and Musk explains the simplicity of the third version very well. Space x is way ahead of the world In metallurgy and 3-d printing which will soon be taken from rocketry to civilian and military applications. Musk posted the details about yesterday’s flight delay—his day job. Yeah, the guy is autistic and doesn’t do emotions, but his willingness to bring his ability to fixing government operations is good for all of us.

What does building rockets have to do with reshaping the US federal govt? Why not pick any wildly successful business leader out of a hat and give them the job? Musk is not the first human to build valuable companies. But we pick this guy at this time to do this job? Lucky us.

Lemme guess, it should be Soros…

Setting up the excuses already for why he will not achieve a fraction of what he said.

And no, I am not against rooting out fraud and waste. But there has to be an actual well thought out process. Not simply all government is bad.

No more talk of defund. Bail projects.

Democrat intellect . . . .

I oppose vandalism, arson and violence no matter what the motivation. It's why I think that those engaged in violence against cops on J6 and those rioting during the BLM period all deserved prosecution and punishment. The pardons of those that attacked cops on J6 are inexcusable.

I must note that MAGA demonized electric vehicles, Tesla and Musk before he decided to join the team with his new buddy and MAGA leader, President Trump. Now they love him (though I doubt they're supporting him by buying Tesla vehicles). That'll last until the President tires of Musk and starts calling Musk names, maybe something like Feline Musk (I'll leave that to the President) and then MAGA will go back to demonizing Tesla. You can take this to the bank. The pattern never changes.

No there doesn’t. Process with committees, stakeholders, groupthink, and special interests is most of the problem.

This isn’t a “getting to yes” issue.
This will undoubtedly lead to some embarrassing and very possibly dangerous, mission failures. This is the wrong way to right size the government, which many of us support 100 percent. I've linked more than once a good example of how to successfully reduce the size of government which was accomplished in the 90s. What we're seeing isn't it.

Politically, this is pissing off so many Republicans and MAGAs in the federal workforce (many of them veterans), and their families, that it's going to hurt the Republican chances in the midterms.

I'll link it again:

Did they though? I think most people who lean right, including MAGA, support private industry innovating products, goods and services and creating alternatives and more market choice. I don't think MAGA has anything against the existance of EV's, Paper Straws, LED bulbs, Vaccines and dozens of other innovative solution based ideas brought to fruition. It's only when told that the choice of a combustion engine powered vehicle, mower or trimmer or incandescent bulb or gas cooking stove/furnace is no longer an option because of a government mandate that MAGA (or just reasonable people) say "woah, wait a minute".

Yes, they did. I saw it and heard it with my own eyes and ears.

The 90’s huh.

Well the cancer is back, worse than ever.

Musk is applying First principles to the problem. Instead of DEI training, I hope government holds seminars and lectures on first principles. Maybe we could stave off the cancer if not immunize against it

His Rogan segment on how hard it was to get heat deflector tiles to work sounded daunting...he almost sounded depressed, but still optimistic, that there was a way to make them eventually work.

To me, it sounded impossible.

Musk has no clue (geniuses can be ignorant too) how the government works or what the people he's firing do. The man thought Remote work and Telework were the same and they're not. Remote workers, who are doing important jobs, save the government millions of bucks every year. For example, if the home office for an agency is in DC or LA (or any high cost city) and the person is working remotely in West Virginia, the worker's locality pay (percentage of pay based on where a person is physically working) is many times lower than in DC or LA. We're talking 10s of thousands of bucks less pay in many cases. Forcing all those people to move to DC or to replace them with people in DC will add millions of bucks to the payrolls government wide. Musk thought and apparently still thinks that workers that do either of the above aren't working at all and that's total bullshit. The way he's firing people is actually illegal in many cases, but our federal law enforcement agencies are totally neutered so who's going to enforce the laws? He doesn't know what the people he's fired do or how vital it is, so he made major mistakes that required him to try to rehire many of them and because of the way they were fired it's not been totally successful. Some they can't contact and some have said FU. Once they do break the government and they need to hire people to unbreak it, who the hell will want to apply and be hired? I wouldn't.

Look, if I was totally ignorant or stupid and believed that nearly everything government does or that nearly every government worker is unneeded, I'd cheer this. However, I'm not ignorant or stupid and I can see that an ignorant man is doing is not a logical or effective way to right size government. You need to read the articles I linked. It provides some details on how they did it in the 90s and nothing has changed that would prevent doing it that way again - and it was logical and effective.

I had planned a long post, but changed my mind. I’ll just say I don’t think knowing how government works is an advantage. Maybe even a disadvantage. My point of reference is knowing the effectiveness and success of a few university presidents who were not educrats and a couple not even from other parts of the public sector.

Do you have any trips to Flagstaff planned? We will be passing through in 10 days.

Cheers.

There's nothing logical about that first paragraph IMO. Because he doesn't know how it works, and seemingly not interested in learning how it works, he's making some serious mistakes which he's having to try to correct.

Probably not going to Flagstaff until the spring maybe after the wife is declared cancer free, hopefully, following her light chemo phase. We'll be going out to help our daughter get an all-wheel drive SUV (Subaru Crosstrek). The BMW coupe I "sold" to her is getting the expensive maintenance part of a BMW's life and it's too much for her. It is all wheel drive too and drives like a tank in the snow, but too expensive, even though she loves driving it. They actually haven't had as much snow as normal, but they're expecting up to a foot this week. They need it. They usually have several feet during the winter and that keeps the chances of fires in the summer down.

Watch out for the snow!

Cheers.

Elon is so worried he pussed out on Jon Stewart when Stewart called his bluff. Elon asked to be on the Daily Show. Stewart said "absolutely". Then Elon said only if it's unedited and Stewart "Hell yeah let's do it". Then Elon back tracked, called Stewart a partisan.

What a pussy.

Democrats aren't against the theory of DOGE at all. Quite the contrary. See Stewart's interview with the former deputy defense secretary linked below. We are against DOGE being run by a guy who gave the current president $277 million to get elected and who he himself gets billions of dollars in tax subsidies.

Setting up the excuses already for why he will not achieve a fraction of what he said.
Exactly. He made big promises, big statements and now the "they will kill me if do more rooting" nonsense could not sillier. He's justifying his inability to keep his promises and Trump's promises. To borrow yet another demeaning characterization that CO Hoosier relies upon in this thread, how stupid do you have to be to believe this shit? Ever public comment Musk has made about his DOGE efforts has been a flat out lie. You can look at DOGE documents and see the flat out corrections they have made that make MUSK's public comments about the substance of the cuts just flat out lies. Pardon me if I don't go hug the opportunist who reviews the air traffice control equipment and immediatiately cancels the contract with Verizon without almost no explainer and no back up, and says "We gotta get starlink in here now". You don't say.

Maybe we can substitute George Soros for Musk. Soros has 1000% great knowledge of economics and markets than Musk, and Soro's upbringing and life was every bit as impressive as Musk's, if not moreso.

DOJ looking into some potential large scale corruption courtesy of the Green New Scam.

The Green New Deal is every bit the scam Trump uses to describe it. Those slush fund lame duck distributions to left-wing fake environmental groups are an absolute obscene fraud. Probably legal, but it would be wonderful if there is a way to put those crooks in jail. Musks DOGE mistakes are better than Biden et al’s intentions.

Is it cool if we ask for links when it comes to DOGE, new fangled DOJ stuff? You know why.
