It’s not the right approach. I’m all for vetting these programs and not just rubber stamping shit but you can do it while they’re being funded. These community programs have cycles etc. they need notice
They have not only suspended new grants they have stopped all payments on existing ones. Crazy
Your daughter may well be a kind Christian soul who does good work. But I’ll guarantee that the whole NGO do-good business is loaded with grifters and charlatans who take advantage of people’s and government’s sympathy, empathy, and generosity. Review and reform are badly needed.
That being said, I think we should prioritize help for those suffering with the massive drug, mental health, violence, and homeless issues who are already here instead of focusing on importing more problems from the third world. We can’t move forward with large areas of our cities looking like the third world.

I don’t trust CNN. There is absolutely no way this can be legit. Everything from road building to services provided by United Way agencies have work in progress and ongoing operations for which wages must be paid from federal funds.

If your grant funding period begins Feb 1st and your Research Institute requires you to pay the stipends of students from funds that aren't arriving (and pay your own salary, for that matter), how is it nothing?
If you applied for numerous grants last Fall that are scheduled for review next month, and that review is now delayed indefinitely, how is that nothing?
If your lung cancer drug discovery research grant was funded as part of a program to address health care disparities for underrepresented minorities (since blacks have double the rate of lung cancer deaths), and its funding gets terminated for being woke, how is that nothing?
If a suicide prevention hotline, or rape crisis center, is shut down, how is that nothing?

I have also reviewed scores (actually, HUNDREDS) of federal grant applications. They are indeed contracts, agreements funded specifically by Congress, in advance of the program announcement soliciting applications.
There is no Executive authority to break such contracts. But that doesn't bother you in the least. Why is that, other than the executive doing the deed?

So it isn't a form of helping out whatever the majority is? If people are being hired/promoted/given plumb assignments because of the old boys network, are they likely to be women? Black? etc.
I posted last year about the Pentagon's DEI program that required Pentagon jobs to be posted. Before most jobs were opened only by word of mouth. So friends of General X or Y would learn that he was hiring and get the job. Are you OK with that being SOP? Or should they be opened to everyone and the best qualified gets the job?
We know all through the economy that having attended the same frat, or same church, or same golf club, results in benefits for employment. Doesn't that all favor a certain type of person? Why is that completely acceptable IF the only thing we want is meritocracy?
I don’t know anything about the OBN. I do know being a white male is a distinct disadvantage for many government and corporate jobs and this his been true for years.
Can I look at the stats you have amassed? How many hires are White vs other groups? How many promotions? I'd love to see the data, thanks in advance.
All I know is that funding to resettlement has been suddenly axed. Legal or not? And when has that ever stopped the convicted criminal making these decisions?
