Here’s what bothers me….Why would CW create an offense that is soooo complicated that in reality only the first string QB is qualified to run it? We got creamed last year even with the top RB in the nation…I know ZD was thrown into the fire last year, I get that but how Wilson allowed Coffman AND Roberson to transfer is just beyond me so in 14 all we’re left with at QB is a converted LB and a buck o five Freshmen….Last week watching ZD play was like watching him play last year, he just doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing…I watch NW just plug in a new QB, year after year ..Why can’t IU do this at the very least? I’m sick of all this razzel dazzle stuff especially since it aint working…

It's an issue of ability of the player(s) rather than complexity of the offense. Other than Sudfeld, IU has had borderline Big Ten talent, at best, at the quarterback position. And that includes those who left the program. It's obviously not been an easy area in terms of recruiting.

A. What do you mean "allowed" them to transfer? This isn't a video game.

B. The "razzel dazzle" stuff works for the most part...you want us to just run it 80 times a game? Actually, people here have been complaining about conservative play calling and running 50 times a game, so I guess there's no pleasing everyone.

C. I agree that our backup QB situation is frustrating, but I like the future with King and Ramsey, and hopefully we can add a JUCO or 5th year guy for next year.

Not really seeing razzle dazzle stuff to which you are referring. Unless you are referring to the pass from Paige to Zander, which worked just fine. I don't believe the issues are due to complexity or the QB. More so, just seeing our OLs and TEs not making blocks that are available to made, WRs not making catches on balls that hit their hands, and RBs who run into the pile instead of running toward daylight. With all of the above being said I understand the frustration.

There's so much to disagree here, where do I begin. Well most has already been pointed out by several posters above. But here's my two bits.

Complicated offense? Don't see that at all. Just a style that's popular at many schools, and high schools. Yes, you have to be able to make throws, but don't 98% of college QBs have too?

Transferring isn't under the coaches control or he would have kept CC & TR. Wouldn't you? Kids come and go as they please. Nothing you can do about but whine. And I did, sniff sniff!

Razzle dazzle!? Hell, I'd buy you a steak dinner if I could see some of that! But I haven't. A fake punt where the punter runs the wrong way just don't qualify. And JH running for 150+ yds doesn't lend itself to that definition at all. What the heck are talking about friend? No insult intended. I really don't get your post at all.

Quarterback recruiting in general under Wilson has been disappointing, to say the least.

totally agree because I thought that would be a position that we could get highly ranked recruits but it is not happening. the next two classes in Indiana has very good quarterbacks and as of right now have committed to go out of state.

i think ZD is going to be a lot better than others on here think, and could be really good.

as for the complicated offense, seems over the last few yrs where it's hurt us is end of game situations where we have the ball near the goal line about to take it in with time running out, and either trying to go way too fast or be way too cute has killed us.

when things get really really hairy at the end of games, with the game on the line, sometimes the KISS theory has it's merits.

Ptah is an old school poster on this forum and loves Hoosier football. I know exactly where he is coming from, especially when Northwestern can just plug a QB into their system year after year and manage to win 8 games, go to a nice warm weather bowl and have a wonderful chance to knock off some "name" SEC school.

Wilson was supposed to be the coach who was a QB guru, the coach who lured upper crust QB to Bloomington...

Besides OSU which games were we in near the goal line situations with time running out?
