One of my apps says 45% chance of snow and the other 32% chance. Snow conditions like we had against Purdue is okay, but if it changes to a chance of heavy snow, then it could favor ND’s running game and hurt our passing attack.

Agreed. Bad weather favors them. They have a very good OL and they'd pound it with Price, Love and Leonard.

We need to be able to air it out, like USC did.

They have a weak rush defense. We can pound it too.
They allow 138.8 ypg on the ground. That's not weak.

Notre Dame has a Top 10 (nationally) rushing O. That includes a gifted, dual-threat QB who's a threat to take off on every snap. Guy has rushed for 721 yards this season, 14 rushing TDs, averages almost 6 yards per carry, and had back-to-back games this season where he ran for 100+ yards. He makes guys miss, he stiff-arms defenders, sometimes bowls them over, takes big hits and gets right back up. He is, in a word, a beast.

If Notre Dame and/or the weather forces us to be one-dimensional (ground), it will be a long night. I don't expect that to happen, though.

This is my thought. Their schedule is considered better than ours but only because they have Navy and Army as legit ranked opponents and we know Michigan, Washington and Nebraska would beat those teams. ND played a garbage schedule so their stats are erroneously inflated. We're more battle tested so I'm not worried.

I respectfully disagree. They have a top 10 rushing offense against what I think is a much worse schedule than IU. We're #1 against the rush and rushing defense gets better in cold/nasty weather. Bring on the weather!

Ok.

I'm not a fan of debates like this because it can look like I'm slamming my own team. I'm not. I try (often unsuccessfully, I'm sure) to be at least a little objective.

So my final point is this. Two reputable SOS indexes (CFN and Sagarin) rate Notre Dame's schedule as marginally tougher than ours.

I"m done. Feeling kind of shitty physically today and want to catch some of the IU/Nebraska game before I hit the hay. Next Friday this time it's Game ON!

Right, I'm not arguing. It's marginal but they also consider Navy and Army to be genuine ranked wins. I'm saying I think Northwestern and Maryland would beat those 2 schools, let alone UM, UW and Neb. So our SOS is saying that's not true. If you believe that, then so be it.

IU/Nebraska basketball game will cause you to be physically ill.

Against G6 and the worst 3 P4 teams in the country

Nice post! I agree. Let's play the pundit game. They have not seen a top 10 rushing attack like IU's. Massive grin! I like our chances here. Going to be a good game. Anxious to see how they run against us. We'll run on them. Sure of it. Go Hoosiers!

If ND was playing a OSU, Bama....we all know the outcomes of those games. They're simply not at that level, so I'm not going to pretend now that they suddenly are. NIU lost to Buffalo, Ball St, Miami OH....Just sayin.

One week out, local (South Bend) TV station has a high of 28 and low of 17.

The weather looks remarkably similar to The Bucket Game aside from the wind being forecast... Right now accu has it as 17mph SSE (that's from Gate D to Gate A)... Hopefully that will change over the next few days and drop below 10mp so it won't be a factor in the passing game...

Time to start the daily "wildly inaccurate weather watch" up until Kickoff... We can take turns... 😉😖❄️

Today's extended NOAA Forecast appears to be saying approximately 28 degrees throughout the game (20 degrees wind chill) with a 25% chance of snow and 10 mph wind at Kickoff dropping to 7mph as the game progresses...

Now that's a Forecast I can get behind... Nearly identical to The Bucket Game conditions...

I Like It...

local irish beat writers were talking yesterday after a coach Freeman game week presser on what they heard from him on you tube and they were saying local weather guys are calling for 40 mph winds now for the game and how that could make it difficult to for either team to pass the ball

I don't like the sound of that wind. Not that we can't run or stop the run though. But their secondary is supposed to be strong. I'd prefer lower wind so Rourke has a better chance to use his accuracy against those guys.

If that's their forecast, they're the only ones in the country to have it... The worst numbers I've seen anywhere are "gusting to 18"...

I guess you can dream... 🤣

Here's the most recent extended forecast projections from NOAA/NWS:

Look to the far right between 7pm and 1am for the Friday night numbers...

The way I read that it looks like they have the winds steady at 10mph with about 34 degrees actual (w/a 25 degree min. Wind Chill) along with a 59% chance of light snow...

Once again, close to Bucket Game weather but feeling 5 degrees + warmer...

I LIKE IT... 😎🍺❄️

National Weather Service is now forecasting the Wind to be from the NNW at around 8mph at Kickoff dropping steadily throughout the game to around 5mph near the Final Gun...

The Wind Chill is now expected to be at 19 degrees so add an extra layer of insulation and be certain to have a wind proof outer layer on (both legs and torso) ...

If you just dress just a little warmer than you did for The Bucket Game you'll be fine (except those of you who left at half time, in those cases rethink your layers and double up on everything... [plus invest in those disposable hand and foot warmers]...

Once again, don't forget to smuggle in a garden style kneeling pad to put under your butt along with some disposable, foldable cardboard to place under your feet (to limit the conductive heat loss)...

Don't forget to do your best Not to sweat on the way in. Carry your over layers and gear up at the gate...

I usually want about 3 to 4 inches of insulation when seated and sedentary in this kind of weather... Face and mouth coverings can hold in some heat and, of course a decent hat or doubled up head gear & hood combo is essential...

Looks like they allow blankets...

24 hours prior to Kickoff it appears that the wind chill factor will be around 18 degrees with the actual temperature at 26...

Most importantly they're forecasting a North wind at 9mph at 8pm dropping steadily throughout the game (with an avg. of about 7 mph [sorry ND fans 🤣])...

Looks like a tenth of an inch of snow after 9pm...

Basically a replay of The Bucket Game conditions just a few degrees colder...

ND's only hope was a gusting swirling wind...

New Orleans here we come!
