Have you ever seen worse back door defense than Jerome Hunters on that second half layup; and to think I had to put up with all the garbage from last year that if Jerome were healthy it would have been an entirely different season, oh yea Race too what a recruit.

Hunter is nowhere near ready to compete at this level. My guess is he could never be with his condition. I don't know that but right now he is a liability.

Come on man. He banked in a 3 from the top of the key! Clearly, he's one of those great shooters Archie thinks he has. :)

he fell for it in Madison and led to a Kobi King poster dunk. Looked like a 4th grader getting burned by the back cut for the first time in his life. Didn't see him play before his injury/health issue and have no way of knowing what impact that still holds, but he appears to have pretty slow feet. Perfect target for back cuts. I'm sure it's on every team's scouting report - "if Hunter is guarding you, back door his ass and get ready for your ESPN moment".

Not to just pick on him, several other IU players got back cut or just fell asleep on D last night. way too many 1-on-zero layups out of half court sets. No excuse for that.

Injury or not you can still be in good position defensively.

I’ve never seen a game with so many defenders so far from their man, resulting in easy dunks or layups. Several other times NW guys were wide open, but the pass to them was deflected, otherwise NW would have had several other ridiculously easy buckets. There was some booing last night as a crowd reaction to such poor play, but it was muffled in general, overall unrest of mutterings more loud and clear.

Hunter will go down as one of these overhyped guys that everyone said “wait till you see him play!”

And then, doesn’t look like he ever handled a basketball.

It’s the same scenario as Evan Fitzner. Guy was supposed to be dead-eye from outside. “Wait till you see him shoot!”

Couldn’t hit anything.
“Damezie was prolific in high school.”

Has the most awkward shot I’ve ever seen.

This is a post that will make you look like a fool if Hunter turns out to be the player he was expected to be. He’s only a Freshman after a year off from his ailment and rehabilitation. It’s far too early to close the book on the kid. It’s like the fools that post “IU is going to lose” in the first half of an IU win - foolish.

Agreed and especially on Anderson.

Priller shot 48% from three in hs so there is that as well.
Don't forget all the hype on hanner also and he was basically a bust. So was Hallowell.

At least you were warned about that shooting form of his, the long range buckets that were to be so damn easy for Damezi.

With Hunter, didn’t someone report he was tearing it up in practice, figuratively speaking, albeit before the mysterious illness? What I’ve seen so far really isn’t any better or worse than a lot of other IU players. Perhaps, a spark has yet to set fire. It is certainly in our thoughts and prayers, the epiphany for coach and players.

Race Thompson needs to calm down. He plays scared, the way I used to play when my name was called from the far end of the bench. Is that how he got his name, the heart racing every time he’s called on to perform? Could it have started with potty training?

IU has seen more busts than a mammogram clinic. I’ve been to funeral callings more boisterous than heard in Assembly Hall last night. George Carlin I ain’t...more like Buddy Hackett on a bad night, only not nearly as funny. I live with that.

I like these Saturday games at noon, games less interfered by obligations, social in nature. You don’t have time to accomplish much before the game you see, with little time left afterwards, smack dab in the middle of the day on day that game be.

Lay off the kid. He is a freshman who didn't do any basketball activities last year, and is coming off a major surgery. Why do people feel like they have to do crap like this? I just don't get it. Just cause your life sucks doesn't mean you have to take it out on others. Go see a therapist.

I’m sure the coaching staff will make corrections to his shot be patient

I am not a coach and cannot comment on shooting form or injuries.
However, Anderson misses a lot.
Hunter does not look good.
And both will be with us for several more years.

I watched him play in high school and he can play. If he gets back to 100% health and shakes off the rust he will be a very good player for IU.

You're also saying IU is going to win 9 more games and make NCAA, let me file this Hunter analysis into my BS folder as well.

Yes I think we'll make the NCAA. It's my opinion and it's my opinion based on watching Hunter play that he was a good player in high school and could be a good player for IU. Neither of us know what will happen in the future and you barely know what's happening in the present because you're too bright. :D

Hunter probably had a good high school coach.

The strangest thing to me is he has been so off in his 3 point shooting.....and basically he's taken no contested 3s...By that, I mean I could see how he could be somewhat timid around the basket because of fear of re-injury, but you would think he could still shoot.

With regard to what you saw from him in person..........on you tube he looked like a very active inside-out guy....his foot-work on the 3 looked a little inconsistent, but he could still throw it in from 3. Around the basket, he looked like something of a garbage guy who would compete and score in a variety of ways.

He never did seem to be to be extra quick or a dominant driver to the basket (like a Troy Williams). What were your impressions, because he's sure not showing anything right now.

Edit---It seems like he made a few plays earlier in the year, and I thought we'd see slow improvement.....instead it seems like he's made no improvement for the last month or so.

Definitely inside out. Took advantage of his size and skill advantage on the inside. Very good foot work. Maybe not super quick but quick enough because he played smart. He was better than average from outside when I saw him play.

The problem with you tube videos is they can make anyone look good. I remember Peter Jurkib looked pretty good on you tube and he stunk.

Hunters appears a long ways away from helping.

Archie's offense is freaking pathetic the only shot Hunter can get are contested 3's how about setting some screens, yes that's legal to do, put Hunter on the baseline and get him some easy buckets, then get his confidence going. I've never seen such inept offense as Archie's.

Is it just me or do we just not see improvement in our post players like the old days? We've had a slew of big guys in the past 15 years or so that were total stiffs and never got much better. Anyone around here old enough to remember when Uwe first got to campus? Talk about a project that eventually blossomed into a damn good player. Hell, even Landon Turner was pretty hard to watch early on. Jeff Newton. George Leach. Todd Lindeman. There are a bunch of others.

OK thanks.......I remember when Archie said that when he came back he wasn't playing as "physical" as he did before....makes sense....would you happen to know what % he shot on 3s his SR year?

Dean Garrett's another.....pretty ragged player the first 1/2 of his JR year. And I think DJ White got much better as he went along.

Hunter was said to come in and be instant impact this year. I get that he was dealing with a medical issue but that issue didn’t affect his brain.

The kid looks completely like a deer in the headlights like he has absolutely never been on a basketball court.
You can generally tell pretty early on those players that have a genuine feel for the game. The guys like Oladipo or Alford, as newcomers, just looked natural out there from the start.

Hunter looks like a long term project at best.

Incorrect.

That post has nothing to do with him looking foolish.

Isn't it time for your cup of pudding and a nap? Dotards shouldn't exhaust themselves..

We’ll see. It’s too early to write him off.

I believe you are about to receive yet another visit from a woodland fairy riding in on her purple unicorn with Dora The Explorer to blow a big gust of sunshine up your ass.

Tell us all how good this team looks and keep defending the effort.

stfu you clueless dick. Race is a good rebounder and needs to be a little more aggressive down low.
