Are just waiting for the new hire announcement before deciding their futures? Hahaha…

Can you imagine the underground of slime reaching out to Reneau and Tucker already?

Ugh.. get ready to be gutted no matter the hire. Promises are already being made.

I hope to god they are being made. I don’t wanna see more than 1 or 2 back. New coach should decide who he wants not beg like woody did.

Leal and gallo got two coaches fired. Thank god they won’t be back for sure.

Who cares? The program is full of losers. I hope they all go. With NIL a new group of mercenaries can be bought.
Think we have learned. Don’t go for the guys that just want money. Go pay for decent guys that want to win. Tons of good ones in the portal. Just need someone with a brain to pick them. I’m convinced our staff are all morons. Woody is just a dumb human.

Minnesota with probably a third of our nil won 6 of 9. Thinking just buying guys would fix woodson was one of the dumbest moves in iu history. Our staff are well paid morons thats why he never fired any because he knows best and they wont question king woodson. And its not just about guys who want money its about having horrible coaches. Teams like wisconsin with probably not even half our nil slice and dice us

Most of our primary guys will be out of eligibility at Season's end naturally, and Renau and Tucker may be the only two with outside interest. Implode the whole thing, get rid of the leftovers and start over with Players the new staff really wants.

Mbagko will have big interest. With his shooting and flashes he’s shown, someone will be willing to try to fix the flaws.

I'm fine w it. Needs to be done. Hit reboot.

Our new guy will make promises, too. Good kids will eventually come. Instate kids will consider IU again.

At least we shed this skin we're in, which seems to be a regular thing now (every 4 or 5 years).

I expect MR, MM, Rice, Carlyle and Tucker to hit the portal, even if they are open to returning to IU. The new head coach will quickly assess if he wants any of these guys back, and if so, then it’s all about money. Wouldn’t be surprised, or disappointed, if the roster is totally flushed. As Cigs showed us, culture is everything and the returning guys, especially MM and MR, have been steeped in bad culture. It’ll be very interesting to see how things shake out.

No doubt MM and MR will have interest from other teams, but will they have to take an NIL pay cut? I think a big part of why they stayed at IU was the premium NIL money they were getting (and I don’t begrudge them that).

Hopefully, whoever is hired, brings some of their own players (and culture) with them, because our culture is absolute trash right now.

Based on the performance of other Hoosier signees that left our program and are now enjoying productivity, I am very curious to see what a new coaching staff can do with MR, MM, Rice and Tucker. No guarantees of playing time.

After watching our 2nd half performance yesterday...and frankly, a handful of other performances recently... I think there are a number of players that have eligibility left, that I'd love to see come back and play for whoever the new coach is.

Any coach that can teach, foster, demand consistent effort and energy, I would think, would get more performances like what we saw in the second half. Throw in a coach that is also willing and able to teach proper footwork, positioning, help and recover principles defensively, a good and efficient offense... I think any of our current roster guys with eligibility left, would likely be great pieces for the new staff.

Too many. Losing culture ... time to purge.
Nah... that's the attitude of an emotional teenager.

Another thing we'll all just have to trust is being handled "by the professionals", is who the new coach decides to try to bring back.

Malik
Mack
Jakai
Gabe
Kanon
Myles
Bryson
Luke (possibly)

That's the list of kids that could come back if all involved wanted them to. I'm not saying he should bring ALL of them back, I assume not all of them will even want to come back. But after watching the team play of late, I think there are probably 4-5 from that list, that would work out very well for the new coach, if not more.

Any coach worth anything will create and demand the culture of the program. Heck, Woodson has created the current culture. Unfortunately, that's one of extreme inconsistency. But we've all seen what "good" Malik looks like. What "good" Myles looks like, etc... And I'll take guys like Jakai and Gabe on my roster, for any level of team, any day of the week. Same probably goes for Luke Goode, if he gets another year.

A good coach wouldn't have to bench someone as talented as Mack for basically an entire game, at this point in the season. Or basically not ever play guys like Carlyle or Tucker. He'd have spent the long and tedious hours and days from the summer through November teaching them how to be the best versions of themselves, most of the time. A coach that does that, like I assume our next one will, would coach THIS roster to contending for a B10 title. Its just hard to see or think about, because of how they look with the current coach.

Nah... that's the attitude of an emotional teenager.
Name one possible returnee, other than Goode, who has enjoyed consistent team success at the college level.

Even an emotional teenager like me can see that.

Malik, Mack, Jakai, Gabe, and Bryson, have only played for Woodson. So your point is moot on them, they haven't had good coaching.

Myles went to an NCAA tournament his first year in college, and was PAC Frosh of the Year... So you're wrong on him too, it seems.

So...Kanon I guess fits your emotional teenager perspective.

With rice it’s definitely style. Look how much better he is when the lane is open. Plus abandoning the defense style helps on that end. He was great yesterday.

I'd like to continue this coversation, but I have to apply makeup for my next TikTok dancing video. And I'm attending a rave after that.

Malik can give you 15 and 7 a night. I’m not sure on Mack. I like Tucker though and think he could be a good one. I’d be pleased with keeping just those two. Rice might be another and has a lot of potential with the right coach. That’s about it.

None of us have any idea what these guys would or could be, with whoever the new coach is. Style of play, coaches expectations, coaches willingness and/or ability to teach them various proper ways to do things...

ALL of them could be very good under a new coach. Maybe ALL of them wouldn't be. Its dumb to make proclamations on it though, other than we have some talented kids that could be good fits for the new coach.

You're right about Rice; I made an error is my assessment. Win or lose, the kid's a winner in my book. It takes one tough SOB to fight and overcome cancer, especially at a young age. My apologies to Mr. Rice; he's shown more mental fortitude in 21 years than most of us will in our entire lives.

I stand by everything else, though.

Reneau gets a bad rap, he's a player. I would do everything to keep Rice also. Tucker is going to Maryland would love to see what a good coach could have done with him. MM just way overrated, I'm sure someone will pay him be interesting to see how his career goes.

I was gonna stay away from this...because if the new coach feels differently, I would love to have any/all of them back.

But from the outside looking in...I'd push HARD to keep...

Myles
Malik
Jakai
Gabe
Luke

And I'd push hard for Sisley and Zyrno to still come to IU.

Then I'd hammer the portal for the best kids that fit my program. Obviously probably would need a big or two if I were successful re recruiting the players I listed. But I certainly wouldn't focus solely on bigs, or take any ole big just because they're highly touted. But outside a starter level big. Playmakers, shooters, dawgs... If I have locker room/gym rat guys on my bench and in Cook Hall like Jakai, Gabe, and Luke...and I surround them with upper end B10 level players...I've got something.
