Hoka’s, Copa’s, Oofoos, Cole Haan Oxford Wing Tip, Red Wing leather boots

My doctor told me that too. I had a stress fracture in my foot from wearing flip flops all the time. He said that slides were better so I mostly wear them now.
I used to love wearing them on a warm day. I have some Birkenstocks I wear now.

Keen H2O sandals about 40% of the time when temps are above freezing, Sanük loafers a fair amount, boots are a cabelas labeled Danners Crater Rim. Dress shoes are almost a thing of the past at this point, but a few times/month I put on a pair of Rockport slip-on loafers or a Cole Montrose oxford.

In the market for new trail runners as my old ones are shot. Might go Hoka, might go Brooks. I don't know.

I cross country ski and there’s not a single boot I would ever consider as being comfortable. I was always told your boot should be snug as you don’t want your heel slipping out. So between a liner sock to deal with the sweat and a layering sock I’ve always felt my feet were like sardines in a can. I’ve never downhill skied. Are the concept of the boots similar or much more comfortable?
I have t XC’ed for years. The boots I had were lace-up leathers. Pretty flexible and no pain.

Downhill boots immobilize your ankle except for slight forward flex. The boot pain for me was usually in the shins. You are always keeping pressure on there against the boot. That pain was usually on the first day of the season, from then on the boots weren’t a problem. In my later years I really loved the Apex system because they are so easy to walk in after removing the chassis. Also the tightening system is infinitely adjustable

I suppose I walked into that one…

I switched to Hoka’s from Brooks Adrenaline’s about 5 years ago. Brooks are great, I just needed the cushion of the Biondi’s for my planter fasciitis. Sucks because I miss my short 3 mile runs.

The red striped Samba has become my gameday shoe.

Broke out these sweet bastards for Spring Break. Stowed under me as we speak. Can play 18 in the afternoon with them, jump right in the pool with them on to get out any sand, then wear them to the Hula Hut for dinner. 😄

Possibly the gheyist shoes I’ve seen in my lifetime.

My brother and every other yuppie that didn't want to commit to wearing real cowboy boots would wear those hideous ankle boots. Everytime he wore them I just wanted to punch him in the face. Commit or don't, but don't aspire to be something you're not or pretend you're wearing a real boot becaue they're not. I couldn't even find a decent picture of these. This was probably in the early 2000's.

If you're talking about chelsea boots, I tend to agree. But if they had laces, they're chukkas and they are an integral part of every well-dressed man's wardrobe.

I don’t like how your pants bunch with boots. Only on rare occasions do I wear them

No I actually don't mind the Chukka boots. The ones I'm talking about had a western look to them and unless you lifted up the bottom of the pants you literally couldn't tell they werent a full boot. They had more of the western pointed toe and and what looks like engraving or whatever you call it that gives it the look of a cowboy boot (which I don't wear because I'm not trying to be or act like one).

And remember when we caught him in the wild he was making notes about a vintage plane! So imagine the breadth of topics captured in those notebooks.

And that makes me wonder how he arranges them. Was that a notebook dedicated to planes or does he mix subjects? Would there be notes on trout fishing in that same notebook? Or does he have other notebooks with TROUT written on top?

How can we know

FYI hooky is under review by the dream team board of standards after his inclusion of rockports.

Rockports are the shoes your dad or grandfather swore were the most comfortable shoes made for mankind. Apparently Rockport never figured out how to Design a pair for anyone younger than 60.

I’m guessing there’s multiple notebooks with double sided labels organized alphabetically.

When your job includes hearing the phrase, "Grab a hard hat and put on these safety glasses. We'll take you out on the floor and you can see the entire process from the furnace to the cold side", you have a pair of Rockports. Some people say old man's shoes. Others say timeless.

Bound by date and cataloged by subject. I use a modified Dewey Decimal system I picked up from a british chap who just happened to be buying shoes at the Rockport outlet store the same day I was.

Don’t listen to Murt. He’s never even used a lawn mower.
