"We're gonna get healthy with Hanner Perea probably in the middle of the
month somewhere, which will help us --certainly around the basket --
and bringing that presence that we have to have on the defensive end and
the offensive end," Crean said on the
on the Jim Rome radio show.

Re: So the starters play forty minutes?

Things are working well now so it will be tough for him to get a lot of pt that late in the season

I have to disagree with you

Things ARE working well but it's a smooth system where HMP can step right in, block some shots, rebound, negate some of the bigger players and get better on his offensive game. I see no problem with him stepping back into the lineup and after a few games to get back in game condition, seeing those 8ppg and 5-7 rebounds per game.

He was improving before he got hurt. I can remember a very nice 10' baseline jumper he made. I can remember some awesome blocks and his running the floor.

I'm anxious to have him back on the floor as I am sure his teammates are too.

Coach Crean stumbled across something great in Hartman at the 5

IU just had their best game over the last several seasons against a highly
ranked opponent. Hartman in the starting lineup is Working!!

IU is better with Hartman in the lineup over Perea

The defense now has to guard all 5 IU players on the floor and creates matchup nightmare and makes IU very difficult to play against. Hart man is a better all around player than a still developing Hanner.

Re: IU is better with Hartman in the lineup over Perea

CH has had some good games ... no doubt... but Hanner will be back and will contribute...

I just don't see HMP picking up where he left off.

I think he'll have regressed and his minutes will be diminished for the duration of the season. If he gets a lot of PT it will be because of somebody in foul trouble early in either half or a blowout situation. I would like to see him get a lot of minutes as long as it's in a properly managed situation, and considering CTC's tendencies I know that won't play out that way.

I would love to see HMP come roaring back better than ever, who wouldn't. I'll eat crow.

Sure regress. No mysticism involved.

He was improving before the injury. How many players come back from an injury and take right off from where they left off? How long has it been since he could practice? Is he practicing yet? Can he even workout on a bike to try and maintain some conditioning? How long will it take him to get back in game form? What about the mental aspect of being afraid to injure it again. Most injured players seem to have to deal with a lot of the above.

All that, IMO, spells regress. Not to the raw freshman way but in the, have to work even harder to regain what I lost way.

What was up with Hanner watching from the locker room?

They say it wasn't the result of a discipline issue, but why else would he not be on the bench? How and what would be the reason to take a player away from the atmosphere that night?

Re: What was up with Hanner watching from the locker room?

To watch the game without the crowd for a different perspective... Maybe watch how Hartman is playing his position...

WTF does that have to do with HMP and regression.

Hanner was getting better and I believe you were one champion his cause. We will need him before the season is over. More options is always preferable to fewer.
