Have to offer Beard whatever it takes, only obvious answer for iubb.

No big name is touching this program, if UK can't pull a big name one year ago then no shot iubb is pulling any big name in a month.

Beard is in college basketball jail at ole miss and has them top 25 and playing well in the SEC, highly unlikely he would turn down a chance at IU. His past appears to be his past, he might have baggage but it was years ago and there's been no signs of it reoccurring. Fans at UT would take him back in a second

1000%

I want IU to win. Period. I don’t care about “baggage” like all the holy ones that are against it.

His career record says you’re mistaken.
Does it? What about it? I said he’s a good coach. His record says that. Nothing says he’s an exceptional coach. I suspect many in here think he is because of his RMK ties. Blah.

He’s coached for 15 years or so and only won 2 conference championships. Again, good coach, not great.

He’ll be no better a candidate than a handful of others. Why take on the risks, why hire a guy that in all likelihood has had drinking and violence issues in his past? There are other candidates as good or better, I’m sure.

He coaches good D, wins at football schools, 4 times conference coach of the year, national coach of the year, took squads to elite 8 as well as final game, 11-5 in tournament, 70% winning record. He would win big with IU resources and in state talent. No one wants him because he was an RMK disciple. You have no evidence he has a history of violence or substance abuse. You ever make a mistake. We all have. I say if he’s interested, give him a chance.

I’ve made a lot of mistakes. I’ve never gotten drunk and beaten the hell out of a girl. Disqualifying behavior, obviously.

I'd prefer we don't hire anyone that's associated with the Knight era. I'd even be happy with someone who hasn't heard of Coach Knight. Our history was amazing but I feel like it's absolutely been an anchor around our necks and held us back from truly fixing this. This program is in desperate need of turning the page and going a new direction. Nil money and the transfer portal makes it easier than ever to turn a program around in no time at all. Coach Cig is a unicorn, but shows that if you look hard, you can find a talented coach that can right the ship.

Okay my friend. By the way can you please tell me the winning numbers for the powerball? I’ll split it with you😀
I wish my intuition picked out random numbers…sadly it’s limited to police reports, statements from universities, and Beards own contrition…

I'm not saying hire him, but it would be dumb not to look into researching him and consider hiring him. We normally do the dumb thing though.

Are you an actual IU grad? Or just a random fan? No way actual IU alumni want that dude representing our university.

Honest question... how is Indiana's history an anchor? What has been an anchor is bad coaching hire followed by bad coaching hire. Besides handing it over to an assistant upon firing, only Woodson has been associated with Knight era. In my opinion what has been anchoring the program is the culture and softness that surrounds the administration. That's not saying Indiana needs to go after Beard, and I am never in the habit of saying they should hire this person or that because I don't research candidates enough. But however Indiana hires next better have an identity that they coach and recruit towards.

IU would only hire Beard if they wanted a sure fire winner. I have no reason to believe that's their objective, or at least their history has not demonstrated a desire to hire a winner in basketball. I believe they just got lucky on Cignetti. I really hope I'm wrong this time! I do expect a new coach in a couple months but I'm pessimistic about the replacement they will choose. Decision making hasn't been a strong suit for IU admin.

Pretty much what ryan phillips said quit looking in the past and move forward. The 1976 banner was great but time to find someone who can win. I'd want no former players ever again. This is probably our last Crack at this.
