Not sure if you get season football tickets, but they're adding per seat fees this season per the post I had earlier this week about athletics department layoffs.
I get it if in this day and age, and if you want to be successful, you need to generate revenue. It's all a bit outrageous, but I get that concept. But if you want to gouge your buyer base on top of the meaningful costs already required just to attend, well then we should all acknowledge the business realities and understand the expectations that are attached to that. What are they doing to uphold that business reality? If they're playing favorites with their protected people (i.e., purported legends and hangers on) to the disadvantage of the broader athletics programs that cost a mint to run, get prepared for meaningful blowback. Blame yourself if people are booing at the stadiums if you're not maximizing those realities within your own administrative world.
And all this money in sports, including baking in big costs to simple cable TV bills, seems to know no end. The user base just happily pays with zero expectations in return. Now IU is doubling down. I'm not totally opposed because I suppose I do want IU sports to be part of the conversation and competitive, but apparently play time is over. Okay, then let's see it.
