Here's a column on what Dean Smith invented. What will they say about RMK?

RMK would have negativities that Coach Smith did not have... Two camps of writers that would showcase their like or dislike of him....

Motion offense and help side defense. Most high schools today still use these systems.
 
It's funny what etiquette and goody two shoes will buy you.

Smith, while a tremendous person who oversaw many great social causes sure by his tenure at UNC, was also still the coach during at least a portion of the UNC academic scandal.
RMK, while no poster child for civility or language that lacked a little salt, was at least twice the coach and tactician that Smith was, while also TRULY graduating players and actually seeing to it that they attended legitimate classes.
 
Don't know about an innovation, but RMK did


forbid the end zone fans, at least for several years, from waving their arms when a player from the other team was shooting a free throw. Took a long time to come around on that one.
