I can see him winning 5/6 to end the season and the DA's will give him another year. I wish it was announced like a Mike Davis style that he would resign so pressure would be off of rhe players and most fans. I could see 5 of 6 to end regular season, win 2 exiting conference tournament games on Wedneaday and Thursday and keeping this guy. Just like last season.0

In spite of all the baggage that is totally unacceptable for us, Pitino has completely reversed St John’s in his second season. Of course the Vincentian Fathers have lower moral and ethical standards than IU.
I highly doubt that happens. $6M NIL, which is top-5ish, did carry some expectations, even for a guy with a lot of powerful friends.
We're ranked in the 50's/60's, we didn't compete for the conference at all, and we might limp into the tournament at best. His poor coaching has been on display again. This season was almost certainly his last chance.

I’m aware, I literally referenced his powerful friends in my last post. At some point they can’t save him and that’s where we are at and likely to stay.
Had IU hired Pitino (I know, I know the holier crowd) when they hired Woodson, Pitino could have had won an ncaa title at each UK, UL and IU. I really believe it was the last chance for Pitino to get it done bad he gotten the IU job in 2021.

Unless the kids give up they showed tonight they can beat the best in the B10. Win the remaining 5 home games and one on the road and we’re on the bubble. Unlikely but possible.
Here's my Saturday morning worthless take. IMHO, IU is pretty much at the same place we were in Crean's last season. If we remember how that ended, IU literally passed on a home NIT game and played at Georgia Tech. Glass eventually admitted that the optics of an NIT game, in front of 5-6,000 fans would be a bad thing for the program. I feel like we're pretty much back at that same place.
Funny. Not happening. Don’t let last night fool you. You may be right. Time will tell. However, last night’s effort is far more of the exception than the rule. We could get hot. Sure. Look at NC state last year. Kevin Keatts was going to be out of a job. Then, the Wolfpack get hot, win the ACC champ and then go on their run to the FF. This year, back to reality and mediocrity. They are stuck with him as their coach.

Yes and this team was picked to win the big ten by some. Woodson himself said this is the most talented group he is had at IU. Time to look in the mirror Woody and see the problem.
Yep. I laughed at NC State run. It was fun for them, but it only hurts them in the long run.
I wanted him gone, I couldn’t believe how bad the results and recruiting were. But when I heard Scott was the only one wanting a change (not Pam, big donors, and of course Quinn), I was doubtful it was going to happen. Though when people like Trilly and Rabjohns were pumping out Pearl content I thought what do I know maybe they are right and Pearl would be a big upgrade. I followed that closely with some hope, but didn’t happen.
Since then, a lot has changed. The give Woody a boatload of NIL experiment failed, can’t do that again. Scott was proven right, and the old guard was wrong, can’t trust the old guard again. Old guard Quinn is also a lame duck and on his way out, which reduces their influence. Scott did something with the sport that matters most the athletic dept, university, and Bloomington has never seen before. He has a lot more political capital and influence now.
So, I think Scott will be able to win the political battle this time around. Of course it’s not certain, but it has to be likely given the above and the atrocious on court results so far this year. The pro-Woody crowd just doesn’t have a case for him anymore. We’ll see.
It was obvious by the end of last year that Woodson was not going to take this program to where it should be. He was supposed to take a step forward last year, and he took a step backwards. He has a below .500 Big Ten record this year. He plays outdated ball and gets blown out on a regular basis when it matters. He's inconsistent and mediocre at best. The high point was getting blown out in the round of 32.
If there are enough people willing to pay enough money to buy another year of Woodson, then there's nothing you or I can do about it. They will just have to look as fools, again.
What benefit would there be to playing an NIT game? The roster is overhauled after the season anyway...so you can't use the "building for the future" excuse for playing in the NIT. Money? Chump change. IU playing in the NIT would be adding insult to intelligence....akin to a team with a 14 point lead calling time out with 12 seconds left on the clock. An NIT appearance just reinforces the picture of IU as a mediocre program.
Yeah, but Kevin Keatts is not a bad coach. Think he's gotten undone by what gets so many guys when they move up and that's the managing and administering of a P5 program, not the coaching.
This season is making it obvious to all, I would guess CMW included, that this isn't working. He can't be enjoying himself, and who would want to condemn him to another year of this? If he were to stay around, I think next year would be worse because the folks who footed this NIL bill will not contribute to that level again. If you care about CMW then you'd be telling him to take his payout and retire. No reason to keep making yourself miserable, when you can collect 4-8 million for stepping away.
They made a good effort, showing the rivalry still means something. For the most part their talent was on display. But 20 turnovers. 55% free throw shooting. Bad decisions under pressure. The team doesn't do the things that are indicative of a well-coached, disciplined team.

I was hoping someone might think that I was saying that we're again at a point where the optics are bad and that the people who run the athletic department, people who control the financial aspects of the program see that. I'm saying that the end of the Crean era looked a lot like what we're seeing....see?
And you apparently got from my post that I was disagreeing with you. Not the case.....just hilighting the status quo. However.....CMW is not Tom Crean. He has IU ties and friends in high places. Something Crean did not have.
Yep. QB is done in 5 months. I tend to believe that the business folks business sense will usurp their personal feelings for Woody.
I'm running on nothing but my own interpretation of what happened last year but, I think we're about as close to zero possibility of his return next season. Again, this is just the scenario I cooked up for myself, but I believe that Dolson tried to end it last year. I think that the powers that be gave Woody everything he said he needed and was told to sink or swim with it. I think the buyout structure is fairly clear evidence of this.
Damn I swear I read that same book back around 2002. Remember it not working out well in the end.
Don't read too much into it. Our players showed good effort last night but the reason that stands out is that it was unusual. This team isn't winning many more games. And they're not sniffing a final 4.

Don’t know that I agree with that. The ACC is not very strong and they have a losing record.
You make a great point because I would think Catholics would be against strippers and prostitutes being used to entice a basketball player to come to the school.
The educational institutions with religious roots which maintain religious values are few and far in between. Harvard, Duke, Georgetown, Villanova, Boston College....on and on....founded on religious doctine and values. Lets just say, most have "outgrown' those values. In fact, in many cases....the faculty and students are downright hostile to students and guests who espouse them. They've been known to protest and chase them off of the campus.
I am just glad my Moody Bible Institute in Chicago would not allow such activity. My first yr at Moody was the first year that women in the school could wear pants. I was told that by a fellow student and my response was, "Well, I sure hope they are wearing pants." Of course he was talking about how they wore skirts and dresses before that.
