I bet every player on defense knows they are considered a borderline "laughing stock" among many media pundits, other B10 schools and yes, may IU fans. Clearly Coach Wilson knows he can't go bowling if they play like last week rest of the season, and sure Coach Knorr and staff know they were embarrassed too.

That said, I think the coaches must have had obscene amount of examples of areas to TEACH from on last week's game film, which as others pointed out, better to have had it in a week one WIN, than later in B10 season.

We will have more players back from suspension, hopefully Dutra & Fant can play after injuries, and I think each game will see improvement week over week, not terrible regression.

There are good athletes now on that side of the ball. There is more depth, good coaches and players who have some pride and don't want to be seen as the weak link all the time.

Combine that with the fact I also think the offense will continue to improve too. I bet Sudfeld was watching the films and seeing some passes he'd like back and where he wants to improve. Guys like Cobb want to make names for themselves for delivering and the offensive line should continue to create holes so Howard can do his thing on a bigger B10 stage.

I'm not full on kool aid drinking mode yet and clearly the D was porous last week. But they aren't sitting stagnant and think attitude, hustle and heart can go a long way. They want to be good and go bowling. Take things week by week and good things very possible for sure.

My dream for this season was 4-0 hosting Ohio State - likely would be a national TV game, then play them like we have in the past when we had an onside kick opportunity at the end in a tight, tight game.

That's some kool aid dreaming there, but would not be shocked if it comes to fruition.

Kool Aid spiked with Everclear. Ohio State might score 70, I hope it's on BTN and not ESPN or ABC. I think 4-0 is possible though.

You do realize that last time we played them in Bloomington it was 52-49? Or that during their national championship season we held a 3rd quarter lead in Columbus with these same "bums" on defense and our worst passing offense since 1958? We will almost certainly lose, but let's tone down the lose by 100 rhetoric.

100 would be rhetoric and I didn't say lose by that much. I was being serious that they might score 70. They just scored 42 on the road against a very good defense and played awful according to them.

First, we don't know how good Va Tech is this year. Second, OSU plays up or down to the game. VaTech was a reverse game, IU will not be.

Fair point and a noon game would be better IMO. We might not know how good VT is but they do have a All American CB that was made look pedestrian on more than a few occations by there big wr. Maybe I've bought into the OSU hype but to me they look fast and incredibly athletic.

There's nothing far-fetched in what you say. I too would expect a bounce-back this week. One game at a time, Hoosiers.
