Second, and rapidly rising, is "impeach the president, impeach the vice president, adjourn congress".
Impeach Congress. Half are spineless the other half are do nothing and only like to watch the other half fail. F em all. Start over.
I think they're finding there isn't as much to cut as they thought and some of the stuff they are cutting will have adverse effects without much savings (like National Parks).
Cut spending with an actual plan, let tax cuts expire and quit subsidizing big oil and pharma. That would go farther than what I bet the DOGE will accomplish

All populist political bluster aside, the TCJA cut everybody's taxes. It wasn't just millionaires and billionaires. And they'd be committing political suicide to allow them to go back up.
But they obviously need to get more spending down than they have here.

Well, I guess time will have to tell on that. My understanding is that they're going to be presenting a report that Congress will act on at a future date. But, clearly, whatever they've done to this point has no bearing on what the House passed.
But here's the thing: our fiscal problem is in entitlement spending growth. Everything else that people say or do is just noise to distract from this. We cannot afford it -- and we can also not reduce it.
We can blame the politicians for this -- and deservedly so. But really the problem lies with all of us. We desperately want that unicorn. And we are going to crucify any politician who doesn't keep that hunt active and promise us that he'll deliver it to us if we just vote for him. We want the government benefits, but we want somebody else to pay for them.
And I think it's pretty much guaranteed that our solution to this is going to be monetization.
Possibly. Republicans have a couple Senate seats that look good. Tim Scott is putting the full court press on Brian Kemp to run against Ossof in Georgia. If he does, that seat flips red fairly easily. Republicans have been knocking on the door in Michigan and that seat is up for grabs with Peters stepping down. 50/50 proposition at best.
I’m confident in Republicans holding the senate.
House is a different story but you have a lot of confidence for a party rocking a 36% approval rating.
I think cutting aid to people that need it could drive a lot of people that generally don't vote to the polls because they've been personally effected, especially to fund tax cuts for the top percentage of Americans.
This was just the budget it has no bearing on the president. It isn’t law
Go to the public make the case and raise taxes. Can't happen when you don't run on that.
Raising taxes would be the dumbest thing for the GOP to do right now. It would send the economy into a recession (will also happen if they make enough cuts with DOGE as well) and gift wrap the Presidency and Congress to Democrats in 2028. I'd like them to not cut taxes, but I won't lose any sleep over it.

They aren't looking at the places where savings can be found. DOD, VA. Why is it that so many non-combat vets are 100% disabled? Need to change system.
And Medicare and SS must be tackled. DOGE is mostly a dog and pony show and will cause more harm than good.

Republicans will not lose Senate. I think odds of flipping Michigan likely aren't high and I would probably bet on Ossoff if gun to my head. Likelihood is there is some backlash in midterm against GOP. No one so voting for Dems at this point. They are voting against Trump.
DOGE has not left the DoD out of the "fun." They're absolutely being impacted - there will be serious mission failures soon because of it. Bet on it. Not sure about VA.
Not only that -- and I'll stay a broken record on this -- lack of tax revenues isn't what is causing our problem.
Our tax revenues are right in line with post-war historic averages....which includes the revenues created by each tax code we've had since WWII. The idea that we used to raise sufficient tax revenues to fund government but have cut taxes to "starve the beast" is demonstrably false.
I'd argue that it goes back farther than that. But, at the end of the day, when we started on this well-paved roadway to hell isn't all that important. You can't rewrite history.
All that really matters is what happens from here -- and how it manifests.

The thing I don't understand is why we don't empower "the Washington Leviathan" to make the cuts that need to be made. Now that DOGE has shown itself to be a gigantically stupid clusterf*ck, couldn't it actually win the day by mandating that the management throughout the system find the 20% of savings that each of these organizations can make while still maintaining their different missions. They actually know what their mission actually needs while DOGE just takes a flamethrower to everything.
I don't know. They've got a crazy difficult gauntlet in front of them and literally zero margin.. Massie likely isn't going to vote for anything.
There are a handful in the House that are laser focused on the debt issue, and I think care more about that than tax cuts. Some may be willing to fall on the sword and end their career over it.
Hell there 12 were Republicans that voted against the 2017 bill. If it all falls apart then they'll be counting on Dem votes for passing tax cut extensions.... Which means something that looks much different than what they are cooking right now
I never realized how bad it was until I started working with a lot of vets, most of whom will tell you they have that 100 rating. There is actually a culture of having that VA disability. They are quite proud and open about it and provide guidance on how others can increase their ratings from 70 to 100. It's a badge of honor. If you saw these folks you would have no idea anything is wrong. Most didn't serve in combat. I used to think 100 means you are a vegetable, but that's not how the system is designed. What's truly sad is someone might have had their legs blown off in Afghanistan and is not 100. Got to know how to play the game. Very sad and disturbing.
The increases in military is dumb. I don't mind an increase in border spending, but the amount seems outlandish. The Senate plan is awful. I do think the House plan is in line with what I think they're trying to accomplish.
