Greens one handed passes

Why don't you ask him at the next practice/game you attend.

It kills me to agree with the bear, but I do.
Every time Green enters the game a silent moan escapes my lips.
I fully expect him to either throw one of those stupid passes which have no possibility of finding it's target,
dribble full speed into the paint and just throw the ball toward the basket knowing it has less than 1% chance of going in,
or both!

I just can't see his occasional 3 pointer being worth it.

I just figured that victor, for all his mouth running, would be able to just ask CAM face to face, as opposed to asking rhetorically on a message board in a lame attempt to try to prove he knows anything about basketball.

It's not just that those passes are one-handed. It's also that they take too long -- he seems to wind up, stretch, look to first base and then bring the ball halfway behind his back before bringing it forward again to pass it (telegraphs the pass too much). Also, he leans down to bounce pass it about a foot from the floor, which means the ball doesn't bounce very high on the other end so the recipient has trouble catching a bounce pass one foot off the floor.

Yes.... it was a very specific and legit question, even if is from a troll......why hasn't that been corrected? It's an obvious question. It seems like Archie is reluctant or afraid to address some very obvious problems.

It's also got a specific and easy answer. Green isn't listening to his coaches--which is why he's gone from starter and gold jersey winner as a sophomore to sitting behind two freshman and a sophomore as a junior. It's also why Archie's been talking about taking the "East Coast" out of his game since Archie got here...along with several other coded references about "understanding his role" and "getting it."

Archie has 4 guards on this team, and he often starts 3 of them, even though two are freshmen. They probably can't play 40 minutes apiece--especially when they've all been dinged up too. Green has to play some. I wish it was less. He does make an effort on defense, that's nice.

Limiting his playing time is not enough. He needs to take the east coast train back to New York, the sooner the better.

Unfortunately, as bad as he is, Archie doesn't have anyone any better.
Green knows he will get minutes, even if they are few, because Archie has no choice.

He has a choice, although not a very easy one. He can stick Green on the bench and not play him any more. Play RP at PG 30 minutes a game, Durham for 10M. If you need anyone else, we've got some walk-ons that would like to play a couple of minutes/game.

What, exactly, is the downside? We're 1-11 in the last 12 with 4 more probable losses going into the Rutgers game.

Then there are no consequences...I’m guessing u don’t have children?

Green has to look cool when commiting the TO.

Ah yes. Can't tell how many times I've replayed his turnovers simply because they are sooo cool and smooth. He has perfected the stylish turnover. Just look how boring Smith's turnovers are- the unimaginative fumble or dribble off the foot. But Green? In a class by himself. Like delivering a load of shit in the front seat of an Audi.

I watched both the LSU/Florida game and UNC/duke. At no time did a see a cross court pass with one hand flung across the court. Archie must be ahead of the curve.

Like so many other of the bullshit things you say, you are wrong again. I have a 3 year old.

I'm sure you'd enjoy nothing more than watching walk-ons run out there and throw up McRoberts-esque numbers because, you know, consequences...but Archie is still trying to actually win these games--contrary to your desire.

But just to put a highlight on how stupid your response is...I already laid out the consequences. He's already gone from starter to last scholarship guard to get in the game. If Franklin is remotely capable, Green will likely see even less time next year.

Leave me out of your Archie Miller internet message board insurgency. I don't have the patience this week.

I won't have any heartburn if he decides to go that way. But, on the other hand, this team's biggest problem is shooting, and he's been our best 3 point shooter in conference play--and 2nd best 3 point shooter on the season, behind Durham.

It would really be nice if he'd just get better at basketball. But...seems unlikely at this point.

Why has this not been corrected.

Probably the same reason Juwans foot position while shooting free throws hasn't been addressed... Archie probably knows Green is done after this season so why waste the time on it. Yea, I'm fully aware Green is a junior but I just can't see him with this team next year unless he changes his entire game basically... and his recreational habits.

Green did get yenked after the initial foul and two turnovers when he came in. Green was visibly upset when he approached and after he sat down. Not clear if he was pissed about being yanked or about something that happened on the floor as I know he thought he got fouled, but he had a hissy.

Juwan actually made that foot position change mid-season. I think he's actually been a little better FT shooter since the change...but I can't remember which game he debut'd it to go look at the stats--I'm just using my gut.

I have also noticed that he has a tendency to try to pick the ball up with one hand and begin dribbling immediately when he picks up a loose ball on the floor. I don't know how many times this has led to turning the ball over to the other team or losing the ball out of bounds. It also seems that he dribbles the ball out of control often times well out in front of his body rather in a position where he can use his body to protect the ball.

Remember the old Gong Show where they had a big black guy they would bring out from behind the curtain to dance and Billed him as "Gene,Gene, The Dancing Machine". We are stuck with "Green, Green the Turnover Machine".

There is a great Bob Knight quote, maybe at Giomi, If god meant you to rebound with one hand you would have an arm growing out of your ass !

I realize you have a thing for guys but quit following me around this board

where the f could anyone go to avoid you on this board? your dbaggery is everywhere. i'm hoping your free internet access expires soon. you bring nothing to this board.

Rewatch the game from the 16 minute mark until DG was finally taken out of the game and made his mocking "team spirit" antics on the bench. DG threw it away twice and could easily have had 2 more turnovers due to his fancy indifference on his passes. DG jacked up 3 horrible shots, and I mean awful, in that period. His one hand slam attempt which also cost IU a bucket, did NOT result in him playing any remnant of tough D and "forcing a huge turnover". DG trailed Hunter by a full step and a half when Hunter inadvertently stepped out of bounds. One could just as easily state that DG was dogging it behind Hunter, and then compounded it by acting the fool when he was justifiably replaced after the play.

DG's play during this time period may have been the worst bball play by a single player that I have watched from an IU player in a very long time. I have defended DG all year, but he is lost to me now. DG's poor play, me-first offense, and angry demeanor with a pi$$ poor attitude/interactions with teammates and coaching staff have really hurt this team. DG is an upperclassman that should be relied on to lead by example, and certainly not be a cancer. Grow up or get out...

We pass with one hand, screen with one hand, rebound with one hand, try to inbounds dunk with one hand, play defense with one hand.

He's a New York asshole, call it like it is.

Long Island Green needs the Rucker Park MC rapping during Green's flashy turnovers. It was a turnover, or a high speed, out of control, low percentage, bad shot attempt, but it was really flashy before the mistake. Ohh baby. Ohh baby, yeah, oooohhhh...whoop.

Does Archie think Greens one handed cross court bounce pass is a fundamentally sound play? Why has this not been corrected.
There MIGHT be a situation that a one handed bounce pass permissible. On a fast break where you can't t bring the ball in to pass without traveling is one time.

Certainly shouldn't make a one handed bounce pass across court with a defender wrapped around the target. He should know without being told that it is a risky play. He is either stupid to make those passes or overestimating his abilities.

Over-estimating his own abilities and being careless with the ball.

DG is a symptom of one of Crean’s recruiting tendencies, signing someone related to someone else. I think it is a variation of the diamond-in-the-rough strategy.

He has a tendency to ignore the mental part of the game and get trapped by athletic ability. If you think of some of our dumbest players, on the court (and off court) at IU, the top 2 were brought in by Crean

Wow......I couldn't figure out what the chest bumping was all about, given the circumstances. So it's your take that he was mocking the coach and/or the team after getting pulled? Were you at the game, or are you just going by what you saw on TV? If what you are saying is correct, he should be suspended for the rest of the season, imo.

I guess another insane, but possible explanation, is that he was celebrating his one-handed dunk attempt??

Can anyone else confirm or dispute this allegation?

Over-estimating his own abilities and being careless with the ball.
Or as we used to say in a somewhat different context, "Don't let your brain write checks that your body can't possibly cash". In other words don't overestimate your abilities and try to do something you are not capable of completing.
