Well played Mute. I trust you’ll love Palm Beach. Looking forward to those stone crab comparisons

The Danes are a feckless people. The people of Greenland want to be Americans. They’ve always wanted that. And for us, we don’t have a choice. We have to get this done

The Danes didn't even discover the place... Eric the Red (father of Lief Ericsonn [one of the Actual discoverers of America]...) landed there after being exiled from Iceland for slicing up some disagreeable neighbors... Now much like here, the indigenous people already living there (if they were already there) probably have something to add to the story but as far as the Danish go they are known to be latecomers...

The Danes are certain to eventually either sell the place piecemeal, mine by mine, to the Chinese; or outright lose it to the Russians (possibly triggering a NATO response but I wouldn't be surprised if they all backed away and wouldn't fight for it, which would be Russias conclusion going in).. Niether of which gives us a legal right to just take it from them but there are plenty of good reasons why we should want it...

If the Danes had any sense they'd just sell it to us but given its part of their national Coat of Arms it's emotionally a bridge too far for them to consider (the sale)... Looks like our only play is to outbid the Chinese for the mines and forge an amended defense pact to protect our holdings...

A little NATO leverage helping hand here would be nice given that that particular piece of terrain would protect the rear of NATO's entire Northern flank...(not to mention Canada)...

That's where "the" Donald needs to unleash his would be "oligarchs"... Let's get em pointed NE and get em cracking...! Buy those mines and then station rotating NATO troops in key positions all over the island..., (With our guys holding the Really key positions...).

Greenland people don’t want to be American and Danes have said that Trump can negotiate for a bigger military presence and even mining rights. France and Germany (and entire EU?) are willing to send troops to defend Greenland, too, if the military option is desired. The bully will be forced to take the Danes offer.

If the EU (basically NATO) actually sends enough troops to defend the place then we Win without firing a shot or spending a dime...

Is "the" Donald capable of playing 4d chess?

Maybe he's not as dumb as many seem to think he is.. 🤣

What happens if Russia invaded Greenland? Story, Nimitz did not want to try and take back the Aleutiens from Japan knowing the Japanese could never keep an army supplied there. Any ships sent were ships not going somewhere that matters.

If Russia takes Greenland, it is war. How are Russian ships and planes going to resupply it? Their losses trying to would be extreme.

Yeah, the Russians just don’t have the stomach for those heavy loss conflicts do they?

Sure they would... But they only need to hold strong points on the northern Coast...

What about NATO losses? Have you factored those in...

My guess is NATO wouldn't have the stomach to defend it... Which is why deterrence is the cheapest solution...

NATO would have to defend it. Left alone, Russia would claim the entire Arctic for its own. They even have some kind of loony geologic justification for it.
