I seriously doubt he’ll stay in. He’s probably going to get evaluations from the NBA so he knows what he needs to do to be an actual prospect worth drafting next year, and then he’ll withdraw from the draft.Really not shocked......

As he should.I seriously doubt he’ll stay in. He’s probably going to get evaluations from the NBA so he knows what he needs to do to be an actual prospect worth drafting next year, and then he’ll withdraw from the draft.
As he should.
Why not go and get evaluated? Benefits him, benefits IU (maybe hearing he needs to be more solid than flashy might finally resonate), nothing to lose and everything to gain.
IU fans will be happy to have him return to the IU team next year. He finished strong and showed that he can be a very good player in Miller's system. Can you imagine the list of things scouts will tell him he needs to improve at to be drafted?
The thought of Devonte playing professional ball ANYWHERE is so laughable.
I cant believe anyone could take it seriously..its bad enough alot of fans are excited about him being able to lead the team in any way next uear
I would guess that they would have told Alford to work on his on ball skills. Shooting wasn't an issue for him.It is a distraction for IU. The NBA is not an evaluator of how to play college ball better. I can only imagine what they would have told Alford before his senior year.
Green needs to go to floater camp for a week or two though. If they have that at the NBA draft workouts then I'm all for Devonte checking it out. "Teardrop camp for combo guards".
In no way is this a distraction. Are you kidding me?It is a distraction for IU. The NBA is not an evaluator of how to play college ball better. I can only imagine what they would have told Alford before his senior year.

Devonte has a unique skill set - if utilized properly. But he far too often tries to hit the home run instead of a steady amount of singles with an occasional double/triple. Party of that is the environment he grew up in, but now is an opportunity for him to grow as a player - and person.
Hearing about your deficiencies from your coaching staff can get old. Hearing the same thing from pro executives can be an eye-opener. This is an important offseason for all the IU players, but especially Green. With hard work and growth he could be a big part of a turn-around season.
It’s all up to him.
if Green is that good then he should go pro.Why would it be dumb for him to get an evaluation and a better idea of where he stands? Kid still has worlds of potential. I, honestly, don't understand our "fans" constantly bashing players. He has the potential to be the best player on the team, if he plays like a senior.
Davis likely couldn't pass the physical.Well Davis should declare too we all know he is ready.
Your last six words could never be more trueWhy would it be dumb for him to get an evaluation and a better idea of where he stands? Kid still has worlds of potential. I agree with this. Morgan did this as well and learned what the pros felt he needed to work on. I do not see Devonte as a draftable guy right now but this decision is good for him (and us if he does work to improve). The surprise to me would be if he goes to Europe or the nba development leagues rather than return. That suggests there may be an issue with Archie. As he should.

New poster hinting that there may be a problem with our coach. You guys couldn't be more obvious, could you?I agree with this. He's not even good enough to start for us.Really not shocked......

If he's our best player next year...we're NIT bound again. Why would it be dumb for him to get an evaluation and a better idea of where he stands? Kid still has worlds of potential. i think what we will see is the best high school players may stop playing high school ball and stick to aau and prep schools. a shameHe isn't going to stay in the draft. But a fool's game is played by many.
This whole mockery of basketball and college student-athletes won't hit rock bottom until we have high school juniors sitting out their senior year in order prepare for the NBA in private workouts. I mean why risk injury when you can just be a little wuss on the sideline?
As he should.

It may be a more stable college game, but the talent level will never be what it once was, and college basketball will just not be as watchable. At that point the watchability factor will be 1.) NBA, 2.) High School, 3.) College. at that point NAIA ball may be even with D1 in watchability for me, as there will be many local Indiana HS players playing there that I have already watched for 4 years +. A reduced talent level in college basketball will level the playing field a lot. Mid Majors and power five non-blue blood teams that have never been able to stack high level talent with one and dones, or two and dones such as Purdue will suddenly have an increased opportunity at Final Fours that has never existed before. Also D1 schools that recruit foreign players such as Gonzaga, Valpo will have an advantage as many of those foreign players entry into professional basketball in the United States and the NBA will mainly be through proving themselves in college for a year or two and not into the early entry NBA Draft. I could see foreign talent becoming the new elite talents of D1 college basketball. Foreign talent will also flood into the elite Prep School circuit which will effectively be the current Duke's and Kentucky's stockpiling NBA lottery pick talents the season before they declare for the NBA Draft. That would be a shame, but to me, ANYTHING is better than the OAD situation we are in now. Attending college and "classes" as a sham to play basketball reduces what college is. I'll take the quality of play going down a tiny bit over fake students any day.
I think the new "ease of transfer" rules hurt the college game more, especially football.

the pros should have told morgan to lose the white t-shirt. it makes you look slow.I agree with this. Morgan did this as well and learned what the pros felt he needed to work on. and vijay blackmon. according to the fan site hoosier state of mind, vijay is drawing division 1 interest. also, that he had a scholarship offer from indiana along with a bunch of other d1 schools out of high school.Kind of like when Robert Johnson declared a few years ago...this is getting a little ridiculous.
Maybe Clifton shouldve declared but kept his option to return to IU too
one and done will be over after next season. i agree about the transfers. not loving it. you could realistically build your program by focusing on recruiting grad transfers instead of high school kidsThat would be a shame, but to me, ANYTHING is better than the OAD situation we are in now.
