Green in the portal

I hate this. Has to be some sort of distraction at a time everyone needs to be focused on a common goal. And it sure seems like he’d be in line for a significant playing time increase for next year. Even though we’ve been a huge beneficiary this year, the portal and NIL both suck.

They'll be his equal to pluck from .
Maybe better..I'm with you on the portal and NIL..Both need limitations ...

Green was the fastest runner in the RB room. This doesn't make sense on its face.
It makes sense to me, at least how I understand all this to work. Unless an NIL deal can, or does, say something about not transferring, all players can basically become unrestricted free agents every season.

I get that he was fast and in his limited carries he really stood out but let's all remember, he was number 4 on the depth chart for a reason. No, we don't know the reason. Maybe he sucked at pass protection, maybe he didn't work hard enough in practice or maybe he is good and just wants to go to a place where he thinks he can get more playing time.

One thing Cig and staff has shown all year, they put the players on the field who they feel are best suited to get the job done. There is no shortage of talent and guys with chips on their shoulders in the portal right now and I'm sure there will be enough interest in IU and with what we've done this year and we clearly have the NIL to work with.

He should've had more snaps. He's good. He was more of a long run threat than a couple guys ahead of him. If I got zero snaps in four or five games during a season, I'd move on too. And I can't play a lick.

Maybe he has no hands. I thought his blocking looked good, but maybe it wasn't. Clearly his running was solid.

But the coaches will do fine. Just another guy they need to find now. At least RB should be a somewhat affordable position.

No way. Green was much better than Martin from what I saw. I thought Green looked better than Lawton, a lot of times.

Only conjecturing. Martin only saw the field twice in garbage duty against W. ILL and Charlotte, preserving the Redshirt. I doubt any of us knows what he was showing in practice.

I do wish Green had gotten more touches. He was a pinball and highlight clip waiting to happen when he was in there.

Word I've gotten is that it wasn't his choice, but I don't know the reasons why behind it.
It’s too bad. Green, out of all of our RBs, hit the hole quicker than any back we had including Lawton and Ellison. He had game speed that was a level above the others. Even in the UCLA game, the announcers talked about Green just being on a different level as far as burst. I had him tabbed as our starting guy next year. It’s a loss. We’ll get someone and I trust Cignetti to find the right guy. Hell, the kid that blew up this year at Arizona State (Skattebo) was at the FCS level for 2 years. Now he’s a 1st team All-American. There are kids everywhere.
