What grade do you think Archie would give himself at this point for what he has done at IU?

Do you think he waited out all those other opportunities he claimed he did for Indiana to be a possible bubble team predicted to finish 9/10 in B10 in his third year?

A good coach could literally have any P5 program in the country in the exact position as Archie into 3 years...any P5 program going into year 3 as a predicted bottom 4 or 5 team in the conference...

That is really telling if where the IU program is...that in Yr 3 of Archie most have IU predicted at 9 or 10 in B10...w a possible bubble team.

I give Archie a big fat D -.

The in-state recruiting kept
me from an F...though I think it’s overhyped and outdated philosophy...it is at least 1 thing Archie and his followers has said that he would do that he has and is doing.

What do you give Archie and why?

I’d give Archie a B. He gets a c for having a smoke show for a wife. His grade was raised due to what he has done so far. He has brought in state talent to Indiana. Guys like Romeo would of never came there when crean coached. He inherited a mess, and he is turning the program around

Except they did...Cody Zeller and Yogi Ferrell...to name a few.
Colin Hartman...

So, cryin'ho was so fired up by a post he made in another thread, that no one replied to, that he started a whole thread about it.
What makes it even sadder is that it's the exact same thing he always posts.

Recruiting - B range
Coaching (wins/losses) - C-

If we miss the tourney, this year, or sneak in, he should be sent packing. Relax, the season will start soon enough.

I give him an A- for first year and C- for last year. Recruiting is a B+. I also agree this year tells the tale. It might not be "make or break" but we will know what we have after this season.

As far as the on court stuff a C-. No tourney in two years no way should get you a B.

C..
Anyone saying if the Hoosiers just sneak into the tournament. He should be sent packing. Knows zero how college athletics works.
We get into the tournament..Archie isn't going anywhere for a long while.
Even if we don't.. He'll get another year..

Obviously I'm a Kentucky fan ...that said you need to get Pitino on the phone. He was never directly linked to any of the UofL stuff. He's a fantastic, HOF basketball coach, and would instantly recruit and win. He would put you guys back on the map with one phone call. And who better to get the IU/UK games going again?

I never said he would get fired. He will be here for 5+ years. Continue to keep the bar low, Fred sends his regards.

I think IU made a mistake on Crean. Two championships and only one year removed. Regardless of whether fans, coaches or players liked him, he got results. Expecting IU to win every year following a cheating scandal is too much. Crean was asked to win w/o cutting corners like Sampson. If the leadership wants IU to return to prominence, leave the coach for a few years and give him the power that Knight was allowed to wield. I hope that's Archie, every time IU changes it sets them farther back.

I would give Archie a C-. I actually liked the hire at first. But to be honest, I haven't seen any improvement over Crean. Yes, it's only three years, but three years is a lifetime for a program wanting to get back to where they should/want to be.

It's two years. What say we get to maybe, the B1G Schedule of this season before saying three years.

In-State Recruiting - A
Postseason - C- at least made NIT.
IU should make the NCAA Tournament within the next two years.
This year 17-14 NIT to 20-11 NCAA Tournament.
2020-21 NCAA Tournament

Sorry, two years. I still stand by I liked the hire, but not seeing an improvement over Crean.
Greatly improved in-state recruiting, lower turnovers, better defense. Archie is a definite improvement over Turnover Tom Crean. IU needs to make the NCAA Tournament in next few years B-

you said you're a Kentucky Fan. While I could be wrong, I have my doubts that you've watched all that closely. I'm not happy with the results, particularly last season, I still have no difficulty seeing improvement over Crean's teams. I can only imagine how the season before last would have gone if TC were coaching it.

I've lived in Indy most of my life. I have family and friends that have gone to Bloomington, WLaf, Kentucky and Louisville. I've seen my fair share of IU, Purdue, Butler, and ND games.

The only mistake they made was keeping crean two years too long. If archie is a bust thats on glass. There were plenty of upgrades from crean we probably could have hired.

Are you so insecure over a nearly four decade Hoosier giving an honest response, on Archie, on a message board just because I'm an opposing fan?

Not insecure. Just curious what makes you think we care? Don't you guys have your own board?
No reply necessary.

Have I insulted you or IU? Is this not an open message board? I gave my honest opinion on Archie, as a Hoosier. Get over it.

Okay...so now, take your whole family back to your own message board, unless of course, we are welcome over there to trash your place without fear of being banned. Can you guarantee that?

Wow, I and most fans were happy with Yogi's senior year. You're tough to please.

Look, I can't help that you're irrational and simply can't handle an honest answer, from an outside Hoosier, posted on your board. I haven't been insulting, I haven't broken any rules. Maybe just grab a Kleenex and get over it.

I would give Archie a C- The performance on the court last year was very poor. The horrible stretch in the Big Ten season was ridiculous. The lack of effort displayed on the court during the before mentioned stretch was inexcusable.

I do think the recruiting has been good. Romeo was a huge get and Archie deserves credit where credit is due. RP looks to be very good. TJD is a very good get. I like the 2020 class. I personally am a big fan of getting the best in state talent if possible. It is not the end all, be all approach but Indiana produces very good prep talent. I have no issues with us going out of state. Just want the best talent. I haven’t seen CAM waste any scholarships like Crean.

This is a big year for IU hoops. I don’t see CAM going anywhere even if we don’t make the tourney which is a 50/50 proposition. We have been in settle mode for a long time.

CAM could be a good hire. I want to see what the next two years bring with all four classes on the roster being his recruits.

Did being the key word. Which of the guys you mentioned committed to IU in Crean's last 3 yrs? See the problem?
I think it was pretty telling when Crean missed out on the best players from the 2017 class.

Wilkes, Scruggs, Jackson, and Williams.

I like Crean. But his teams were inconsistent. Recruiting was a roller coaster ride. Those two things tie together. 9 years was enough time to prove if he had the goods.

And I believe we should be able to make the tourney every year, be one of the best teams in the conference, make some NCAA tourney noise in the second weekend and beyond every few years. I don’t want anyone involved with IU leadership/coaching staff to accept or believe in anything less. Assuming my math is correct, making the tourney 10 out of 19 years since Knight left is embarrassing.

Being the IU coach is a tough job and not for everyone. One gets paid extremely well to get better results than what we have accomplished the last 19 years. I really hope CAM is that guy.
