Governor's Cup to IU

That's like saying we beat you in the 2nd half by 5 after being down 7 at half.
Really? I figured you'd take more pride in beating us in basketball. But right now the programs seem to be going in opposite directions. Things are cyclical so who knows what lies ahead.

I've always found the Cup to be a raw deal for IU because there is no point for men's soccer-since Purdue doesn't field a varsity team. That's an automatic loss of a point for IU. But it didn't hurt this year.

Purdue is pulling away in football. IU doesn’t make enough of a commitment there to ever have a winning program.

They’ve been recruiting at similar levels. Debord is finally gone. Their facilities are no better. They only 10 minutes ago got lights at their stadium. The only area they’re ahead is coaching salaries. Which, yeah, is disappointing. But it’s not everything.

Purdue’s recruiting, facilities and coaching are all better, but they were slow on lights and have a smaller video board, so IU wins those. The gap between them is growing. IU will never win in football unless the commitment is much bigger than it currently is.

Purdue is ahead of IU this year in recruiting because their class size is larger. IU beat them last year and the year before. I’m going to need you to show your work on how their facilities are better. Because they aren’t.

Unless IU opens up the bank vault and pays to hire a program changing football coach, I don't expect any change in football. There is no history and no tradition in football. I have no expectations for football under a coach who was promoted from within without a nationwide coach search. You get what you pay for. IU has no commitment to improve the football team. Nicer facilities does not equal more wins.

Purdue “won” the recruiting battle last year. As for facilities, take a tour of both. IU’s are good, Purdue’s are better.

If there is a gap in facilities it’ll be closed when the Terry Tallen complex is completed. IU has been dumping money into football facilities. Recruiting is way up. The only reasonable complaint anyone should have is with coaching salaries and I’m willing to give Allen a season with a competent OC before I judge him too harshly.

You're a Purdue fan. Why pretend you aren't?

PU's new training facility is nicer than IU's current facility. IU's market-driving 100,000 square foot Athletics Excellence Academy is a huge advantage. IU's stadium is far nicer as are the tailgating venues and tailgating in general. A lot of the stadium and tailgating is fan related I know but the player-based facilities continue to ramp up quickly and IU will be back ahead overall...not that it matters as much as some want to say.
