The rumor on Leal has been that he has made quite a lot of money the past few years and has invested well, and now has a stake in NIL for players. As such, he has been able to return in a sort of player/coach capacity, which the NCAA is yet to rule against due to a clause that allows for continued education at the post-graduate level.

I don’t know in what world you tell Tucker to not come back but take Leal. I understand full purge, taking on Leal is asking to be fired.
my guess (and it's only my guess) is that the new coach wants nothing to do with a player (or helicopter parent dad) who told the previous admin to F off....right or wrong. Too bad, I think Tucker has potential.
As for Leal....again, this makes no sense and I'm not buying it.
How did this Leal rumor start? He is out of eligibility. He's participated in two Senior Days. I don't see any way that happening, even with what was said above about a player/coach/whatever. After his "chill' to the fans on Senior Day ... he can chill out of IU's picture. No, it did not hurt my feelings but based on social media comments from Goode and Leal, they can move on ... not a fan of either. Besides, Goode can't guard a chair. Just because he can shoot why would a coach that is defensive minded want him?
He’s not doing any heavy lifting on that app. Doubt it goes anywhere but good luck to him.
And run it back they did, with another missed tourney after spending even more money.
If he’s intending to come back to IU it must be with CDD’s blessing. I don’t think he should get another year but if he does and the coach wants him then best wishes.
Yea, have to trust CDD’s judgment. I’m sure CDD can rehab him, but it may take time after four years of Woody’s influence.

According to Torvik's team projections, IU is currently ranked #38. However, with Goode and Leal, IU is ranked #24.

100 percent promise. Sick of watching our BS over the years. Clean house and move forward. We don’t need a cheerleader on the court. Devries assembled a nice roster of shooters and players who can score. If Devries falls for Leal’s hustle BS he will take minutes away from someone who can actually contribute.
Maybe he and CDD agreed to having him go back to being a bench guy who never plays in games, like he was for the first 3 years. Technically a player, but in reality helping with practice coaching or something... Who knows?
I'd seriously rather have Dallas James return for this coming years roster than Leal. vbg

Leal is that guy parked on the bench where when Coach DeVries gets pissed at the defensive effort of his main 7-8 guys he barks "does anybody want to play any defense today?!" and then benches a few guys and Leal gets in for a few minutes while CDD tries to wake up the team with some pine time.

Doesn’t work like that. I agree, a good coach could use a kid like that for motivation but somehow we make him into a rotation player instead. I was hoping Devries was smarter than Leal’s BS but he’s not. I knew we were in trouble when they said Leal was at his press conference lingering around the program.
I don't have an opinion on him personally. I feel he'll practice and play with effort. Coach's call. I'm sure he could use him in spots, and maybe DeVries way will fit Leal better than past coaching.
We do need some athletic size. A couple guys. I know they're hard to afford, but...
Our cupboard isn't totally bare, not saying that. But we're geared to offense rather than defense. I think for our size though we have some good rebounders. So maybe that's the key, we can grab a lot of boards that aren't right near the rim and sneak some of those inside ones too.

Walk ons are better than Leal!
Leal is trying to milk NIL $ for startup capital for his real estate business. Absolutely stay far far away from Leal.
