Thads team has lost 3 in a row at Butler.I talked to a very good friend who is pushing hard (financially) to make this CMW’s last year. Word is Thad Matta is on the short list. They are now gaining consensus from IU alumni.
would be dumber than hiring Woodson at this pointI talked to a very good friend who is pushing hard (financially) to make this CMW’s last year. Word is Thad Matta is on the short list. They are now gaining consensus from IU alumni.

what is pushing hard financially? nonsenseI talked to a very good friend who is pushing hard (financially) to make this CMW’s last year. Word is Thad Matta is on the short list. They are now gaining consensus from IU alumni.
No reason to hire Matta at this point. He's a huge upgrade from Woodson obviously, but why settle?I talked to a very good friend who is pushing hard (financially) to make this CMW’s last year. Word is Thad Matta is on the short list. They are now gaining consensus from IU alumni.
what is pushing hard financially? nonsense
They are coordinating high-profile discussions to buy him out. If this is “Nonsense” to you then your starting point is outside the realm of common sense solutions. The fact that these discussions are happening should not be a surprise to anyone, including the most robust CMW fan. Replacements like this are started with discussions amongst the leadership and donor base. Nothing about this process is nonsense.what is pushing hard financially? nonsense
That's another bit of horrible news if it were even remotely true.I talked to a very good friend who is pushing hard (financially) to make this CMW’s last year. Word is Thad Matta is on the short list. They are now gaining consensus from IU alumni.

Nah.would be dumber than hiring Woodson at this point
there will be discussions to buy him out is obvious. I don't think he has any support left at all. the nonsense is MattaThey are coordinating high-profile discussions to buy him out. agreed...the writing appears to be on the wall, but it should not read "Matta"....after 25 yrs of Fkng this thing up royally, hopefully it's being thought thru carefully and not just another attempt at a quick fix. To me, Matta feels kinda like Stevens...made sense 10 yrs ago, not so much today. IMHOthere will be discussions to buy him out is obvious. The non-sense isn't that they are working towards terms to buyout CMW, but it would be non-sense (and typical) to identify a single candidate now. Let the season play out and have a roster of candidates, interview and let the AD make the hire. No booster would've wanted RMK back then, or Coach K at Duke when he was hired. If the process is anything other than letting the AD make the hire, it's non sense and will likely lead to the same non-sense we've been experiencing for 20+ years. They are coordinating high-profile discussions to buy him out. How did that work out last time? LOL.I say hire Chris Beard. Who cares at this point. Make his contract about his behavior and no tolerance
This board is blind now without fpeaugh reporting who is in Bloomington looking for a residence.agreed...the writing appears to be on the wall, but it should not read "Matta"....after 25 yrs of Fkng this thing up royally, hopefully it's being thought thru carefully and not just another attempt at a quick fix. Yeah, if this forum turns toxic on MW the entertainment value is pretty limited. It gets boring hearing about the status quo.How did that work out last time? LOL.
I feel ya, Chris Beard. Him and TJ Oltzelberger would be my first two calls. Then calls to Shertz& MCcollum.. Two safety nets if all else fails, and both would be solid at IU, Thad Matta and Jamie Dixon.
Schertz is struggling at freaking St. Louis. No thanks. How did that work out last time? LOL.

I don't think there's any writing on the walls...yet. Woodson, if nothing else, has shown himself and his teams and program at IU to be resilient. I don't know what the "keep him" win total is, or what they'd have to start playing like, but I seriously doubt Dolson, Buckner, whoever is making this decision...I doubt they've even come close to making it yet. And if that's true, I suspect Woodson is more than capable of "doing enough" to save his job at this point.agreed...the writing appears to be on the wall, but it should not read "Matta"....after 25 yrs of Fkng this thing up royally, hopefully it's being thought thru carefully and not just another attempt at a quick fix. Maybe Mrs. Stevens, herself, is considering coaching? Her husband I'm sure isn't.Brad Stevens' wife was just spotted today taking a tour of Smoke Stewart's $23M estate near Columbus.
That's gotta mean something.
Simple, nix the zero tolerance bullshit and just let him beat his wife. Why would you bring someone in on a zero-tolerance policy right off the bat? That worked so well for us before.
Might be too early to judge Coach Schertz. He may continue to have a fine career. But timing won’t be one his side if IU makes a change at the end of this season.Schertz is struggling at freaking St. Louis. No thanks.
do you think this team will make the tourney? That has to be the bare bones min of 'doing enough' this year.I don't think there's any writing on the walls...yet. let's be honest....Brad hasn't coached college ball, or recruited, in more than a decade. Long before NIL, long before the portal and instant transfer. I'd be stunned if he ever coaches college ball again. And even more stunned if it was at IU. We need to let this one go......once and for all.Brad Stevens' wife was just spotted today taking a tour of Smoke Stewart's $23M estate near Columbus.

Logic is telling me that he'll need to make the tourney, but also have some "juice" going within the program. As practically, this offseason he probably needs a contract extension, or he needs let go. His contract is up in a couple years, they can't leave him with only a year or so left on his contract at seasons end. I would think, if we were to limp in to the NCAA tournament, and flame out, that likely wouldn't be enough for him to keep his job.do you think this team will make the tourney? With the NIL spent, was really hoping for more this season.
Woody can thank his lucky stars he convinced TJD to stay. Without him we don't sniff the tourney in either of the first 2 seasons, and then he doesn't survive the mess last season turned into.
We have about 6-7 weeks before we start our bubble debates. The January schedule will make or break the season. Have a good January and we become a tourney team. Have a bad month and $5M NIL will buy us one lousy NIT. Which we'll pass on because, you know....we're Indiana.
He also just won an NBA title. And has the best team in the NBA, with really, really good young talent. It would be odd, very odd, for him to walk away from that for any college job. Let alone one where the task is as difficult as bringing IU back to the top of college bball would be.let's be honest....Brad hasn't coached college ball, or recruited, in more than a decade. fair assessment. I have to see more before I believe this team is capable of a couple BTT wins and a first round NCAA win. We've beaten absolutely no one so far. And our losses against the 'someones' have been beatdowns. I'm still trying to understand why we thought shooting 35 threes against Nebraska was a good plan. We really have no tests on the schedule until after New Years, so we won't learn anything new for a few weeks.Logic is telling me that he'll need to make the tourney, but also have some "juice" going within the program. I do think this team has a decent chance of making the tourney. And I think there's a decent chance the perception for those that matter in this decision, is that there would be juice in the program. And I could see Woodson getting a small extension, with similar buyout terms to what the last contract redrafting had. Essentially giving him a few more years, but making the buyout relatively easy to navigate.
12-8 regular season, win over Purdue, couple BTT wins, an NCAA first round win... Some of the key guys committing to return, I think that's a path for Woodson to return and get a modest extension.
NOT saying I agree with that, just saying that's a very plausible scenario.
