Glass Apologizes

https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...es-purdue-cursing-basketball-fans/2927847002/

Thought it was funny someone here didn't think they were saying "the f word". Classy move to apologize. Happened in a few places this year.

Fred needes ti apologize and to send a message to the kids that did it.

To the holier than thou pu fans, I don't remember Morgan Burke apologizing when similar chants were directed at Will Sheehey and Earl Calloway.

Fred is an apologist for the university. He thinks that as long as we are respectful and courteous, all is good with the sports programs. He doesn’t realize that college sports is a dirty, competitive world. He would rather lose than get some people in here who hate to lose. You have guys in this conference who are edgy and they win and everybody loves them.
Izzo is one of those along with Dantonio. Any transgressions are overlooked....and soon forgotten.

Why are we apologizing and for what. Screw Purdue. Their fans are THE worst bunch of scumbags. Don’t apologize to them. Weak

FTR, that was supposed to be and would now be a technical.....which is why most coaches don't risk it. The PA announcer, however, but it was tough to really tell what the students were saying from where I was. I could guess, but this stuff has been going on (more from the other side during my lifetime) for decades. Haarms shouldn't have been in the game (and somehow drew several fouls from jumping on top of IU players and elbow dropping).

Interesting that the article made no mention of Coach Knight. I can think of multiple times where he walked over and was handed the mic to chastise fans for their behavior in the hall.

What's any of that have to do with the article not mentioning that Knight routinely did it?

Ya, no doubt, it was the officials not calling it fair at home for the Hoosiers.

Said no one ever.

Of course it has and he players leave their bellicosity at the end it door and remain friends for a lifetime.
Agree. The players and coaches have much more respect, especially later in life, than do the fans on either side. I would prefer PU fans not act offended as it is pretentious to pretend our kids are somehow above it.

Particularly since they have done the same things.

Yes. I have no issue with the students having fun giving the other team a hard time. I prefer for the Paint Crew to be more creative and less vulgar as it creates a far more positive image but it doesn’t always happen that way.

Big difference between the relatively harmless “IU sucks” that Love4beer/ Courtsense constantly complains about on our board and the nastiness of the endless FU chants directed at MH and others. Glass had no choice but to apologize after such classless behavior. Wonder what he thought of the huge crowd of Boilers in Simon Assembly last night. Many more there than the few Hoosiers that ventured to Mackey last month. Been trending that way for awhile.

Fred Glass bending over and spreading. He's the embarrassment. So many sports programs have declined under his watch. The real problem though is people continue to donate money. We need people to quit donating money until things change. For example, UK boosters aren't donating for mediocrity. Once the money dries up and the tournament/bowl game drought continues, then Glass will be a chitty memory just like Davis, Brand, Sampson and Crean.

motivated him to do what, sit the bench in foul trouble. He did one good thing all night and that one was a foul but got away with it.

He had more points than all but 3 IU players. 6pts. 4reb, 1ast, 1stl, 3blk in 22 minutes. Not his best work but he made an impact despite being off the floor for foul trouble.

As it will when the game means much more to one fan base than the other...

Dakisch said it best, Indiana is now a bunch of kids from Chicago’s northern suburbs and the northeast.

Many of these kids at IU are entitled punks with no cultural ties to Indiana. Most hadn’t watch or cared about Indiana basketball until they stepped on campus.

I long for the days of the past where IU represented something more.

College kids chanting mean things at a player who acted like an asshole the entire game is not embarrassing for me. **** Haarms, the crowd was only using the exacr same language he could be seen using multiple times on the floor. He had the ire directed at him because of how he was acting.

If Fred wanted to apologize for something he could have been out apologizing for the wreck of our basketball and football programs that he currently is overseeing. I don't give a shit if some Purdue fans or players had their feelings hurt by a chant. You little pissants chant about Indiana every damn game. It is what it is. But but Crazy...the language used was much worse. And? Poor sportsmanship is poor sportsmanship. Our fanbases, in the context of sports, do not like each other or the opposing players. It has been that way my entire 40 years of life. Deal with it.

Give me a break. There are literally articles written about old Grandma's shouting hateful things at Purdue in Knight's heyday. I was a student during Knight's last few years as well. You are harkening back to a period in time that never existed.

I'd love to read a couple of those articles. Got a link?
