I foolishly thought they would play inspired for RMK at the beginning of the season. Then I realized these kids were born a few years after his last season at IU and when Mike Davis was coach. They have no clue of his legacy. Wishful thinking on my part.
I totally disagree with your sunshine methods…but totally agree with you on this issue. It’s the IU Jersey. RMK belongs there. Besides Woody Calbert and Quinn would never allow something so disrespectful. This is a non issue, would never happen anyways. Ridiculous to even float the idea on a forum board.

Understood. As far as individual talent vs team results, this team is falling painfully short of realistic goals.

I've never seen an IU team be allowed to pull the same flagrant/bush league behavior repeatedly as well as play this poorly.
That season just proved what a stud Yogi had been the year before. He carried the 15-16 team on his back.
Its falling to peices behind the scenes. These are symptoms. Woodson is toast.
There's no game by game strategy, zero adjustment as to who they play and what they can do to combat their style instead of vice versa. They are learning failure. It's failure of trying to execute something ill-conceived for the roster you got, plain and simple. Add to that the lack of any in game adjustments when the failure to adequately plan for your lack of planning not working ad nauseum and this is what you get ... the worst IU "team" many of us have ever seen.
I’m finding Crean’s first year with his band of merry misfits and walk-ons to be more entertaining than this group. They tried and hustled.

I’m a fan the same as most of us are fans. I sure wasn’t happy with IU’s performance last night. There isn’t much to be happy about. However, I don’t understand why you guys don’t get that I don’t do over emotional whining. It’s not my thing. I’ve said I’ll leave the whiners alone if they don’t attack those of us that don’t join in. So don’t attack.
My opinion is that Woodson isn’t doing a great job this year. There are reasons beyond his coaching, but his coaching hasn’t been good either. My opinion is he will still be our coach next year and that year will determine his future.
The NNW&CC can whine the rest of the year and next, but I will not participate in it. Have fun with it.
The OP is frustrated, without a doubt. Anyone with eyes who likes IU has to be frustrated with what they are watching. Overreacting? Maybe. Mostly because most of the players wouldn't care one way or the other. They don't give a shit.

I can go through a game like a robot now, and had we won by 20 or lost by 20 I would have shrugged my shoulders and went to bed. Does apathy equal maturity? Inquiring minds want to know.

It sure as heck isn't apathetic, but it's also not criticizing in an overly emotional way either. That's when critiquing crosses over into whining. There's a difference between "come on guys, grab the ball, we need to get back in this game!" and "rebound the god damn ball you dumbass! You suck! Coach sucks! Fire Woody now and hire Dusty May!" There's a lot of the latter on this board. Same critique, but one is overly emotional whining. I'm not going to a game with the person that does the latter. Well, not more than once.

I get to play the drums on Tuesdays, and if there’s a game, that’s ok, I’m playing music and having fun. There will always be people here calling for a coaches head. And they complain. But, I don’t know them personally and I’m not going to assume that they are going life being miserable.
And there are those that say (and have said under the previous fired coaches),” I will cheer for IU and support the team and coach. There’s nothing we can do, he’s not getting fired, etc.”. And of course, when the blood is in the water and it’s obvious their coaching tenure is done, these people suck up that blood and suddenly turn.
i don’t know. A longer ramble basically saying that we are all IU fans here, but different. Some need to come here to vent. Some like to come here to talk about the bright side. Just because you have someone in a whine and cheese club it doesn’t mean that they are all going through life more miserable than someone else.
I’ve been disappointed for years at the lack of progress since RMK’s firing. But other than the embarrassment of Sampson, just that. Disappointed. Now I’m pissed because these PAID young men are embarrassing a once proud program with their antics. The $$ from us aging dinosaurs is going to dry up soon and then what???
Weak armchair psychology and behind the keyboard tough guy words notwithstanding, I simply don't like to lose or see the play, nonplay and bitch-ass antics on the court. I've never seen anything like it and it's counter to whatever is left of the brand RMK built.
If you think my comments are hyperbole, check Don Fischers comment last night. When have you ever heard him say anything even close to that? I've never bitched at a teammate but if you're going to actively or passively tolerate incompetent, dispassionate, game disrespecting effort on the field, we're not playing together long.
Seeing responses like yours or the really insighful and critically thinking "dumb" responses is actually helpful to realize and accept that this program is far from ever recapturing its former status. Fanbase, alum, administration not even close to programs like OSU football that understand what the brand means to the community, state and university. Go live in Columbus for a few years and see.
Indiana's former "basketball state" brand doesn't happen without the three banners in the 70s-80s. Nobody outside the state could give a shit about our HS tournament and the movie Hoosiers is novelty film without IUs success. Sad to see a brand fade.
