Gavin Newsom is a solid choice for Dems

I think he is a close second runner up to them running Admiral Rachel Levine.
Pennsylvania's own. When I lived there a lot of people ridiculed her over policy. Most of the state is conservative, but the cities overwhelmed the politics. Even outside of Harrisburg where I was the pastor people did not care for him, her, they, them, zim, zir, near, niff

Newsom might be the most archetypal "shifty politician" I've ever seen. He'd be perfectly cast in that role if he ever wanted to get into movies. But it works for him.

And he also makes some of the best wine I've ever had, too.
You mean, “it’s worked” for him. That is coming to a close. Clearly.

Well, I don't know that - and neither do you. Maybe.

From where I'm standing, it's a wide open field for the Dem nomination -- and I don't see why Newsom wouldn't be among those with a realistic shot.
Can you do a friendly podcast with Charlie Kirk and still win that gig?

Visited w Trump. Podcast w Kirk.

Looks like he's potentially persona non grata with the leftist power brokers?

She/he is certainly not a Navy Admiral, but a so-called Admiral in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Why they pretend to be commissioned officers is a mystery to me. Seems ridiculous.
You do realize that I only added that (which I agree is totally STOOPID) for your reading pleasure, right? :)

The Dems all equally suck at this point, which is why Newsom is attempting to change history. Unfortunately for him, X exists.

Newsom is clearly washed up. But the Dems don’t have many good options presently. I guess we’ll see what happens. I’m liking where the Republicans are sitting currently.

Newsom could easily win the 2028 primary. He can be anything to anybody. An excellent politician.

Plus the Democrats are hurting for candidates that can string a coherent sentence together.

I’d bet big $ Newsom isn’t the Dem presidential candidate in 2028. His destroying his credibility day by day.

I still maintain that Shapiro or Beshear would both be very formidable candidates. And there could be some others. I'm kinda intrigued by Jared Polis. But, then again, I'm not their target voter.

I think the question is whether or not the Dems, between now and then, experience a schism like the Republicans did. There are some rumblings about this -- with Sanders saying things about running as an independent, the angst at Schumer for breaking the CR filibuster, the likes of Ezra Klein advising Democrats to loosen zoning and permitting regs, Carville etal advising them to drop the Woke, etc.

I'd guess that having Trump as a nemesis will help them stay united in purpose. But we'll see. Some of the crosstabs of the '24 election (in particular Hispanics) have to be concerning to them.

But with whom? I get that you despise him. I'd guess that he never had credibility with you. But, here again, you aren't his target voter...especially in a Democratic primary.

He has ruffled some feathers with Dem left voters lately by entertaining the likes of Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon on his podcast. He also had Michael Savage on (although I understand that they've been longtime friends).

I am skeptical about how durable the Trump coalition is. Does DeSantis or JD make the same inroads with Hispanics and black men that Trump did? I don’t see it.

Republicans who think Democrat’s are down and out for the foreseeable future sound an awful like Democrat’s after 2012 proclaiming their majority minority coalition spelled the death of the Republican Party.

If Republicans revert back to stiff men in suits, the cross tabs likely look very different. Cut back into some of the college educated and elderly vote, lose a lot of the working class and minority support.

A lasting image for me was seeing Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz jabber Spanish at each other on the debate stage in 2016. Republicans knew they had to start winning Hispanics but this pathetic tokenism and pandering did nothing to move the needle.

Instead they got walloped by the guy who proclaimed

“Trump Tower has the best taco bowls, I love Hispanics!”

Can’t beat authenticity.

His target audience, the radical left. Which happens to by where the Democrat party is currently headed.

The Democrats are in shambles. Republicans should dominate the next several presidential elections.

They won't.
