Haven't heard the usual pre-season stadium/game day upgrades rumblings. Anything new this year?

Over the summer, they completed the South Endzone project increasing our capacity to 85,000. They have partnered with a local farmhand to utilize his prized bison, "Big Red", as the team mascot this season and used the surplus in the facility budget to increase the Dippin Dots stations by 50.

The incredible fifty foot long bbq station under the east stands will smell great for miles.

New stuff I know about: red turf in weight room, new sideline wall graphics, new NEZ window graphics (script Indiana), new signs on concourses, some concession changes, and the new IU limestone tower outside the purple lot.

Don't forget no more lifting the lid.

I heard they're adding hologram fans to the seats to create a sellout vibe.

Have to say, those graphics annoy the crap outta me, especially on TV. It looks like a kaleidoscope acid trip in red and white. Too busy and a stark contrast to half full seats. Can't they be less gimmicky, more classic and just put up some interlock logos or something?

You mean the sideline graphics? It's the school seal in red and white with a small IU logo next to it. A couple sections are literally solid red. I'm not sure how that's gimmicky.

Which version are you talking about?

I was wondering if the graphics with the IU seal we're going to stay or not. The put them up for graduation last year when it was held in MS, but those are for academic and not athletic branding according to the IU brand book.

Glad to hear the capacity is up to 85k with an enormous BBQ bar. That'll be a real treat.

Which can be said of about a 3rd of all public and religious monuments, not to mention just about any skyscraper.
Yeah I was going to say, you can see a penis in any tower if you look hard enough. (There's a joke here somewhere.)

The tower is great.
I've been adamant that the university do more of these aesthetic improvements.

The replacement of those horrid chain link fences with barbed wire around the East stands with the wrought iron is 100x better. I would like to see them repair some of the pavement in and around the athletic complex. There is some parking lot areas that could improve.

Awesome idea with terrible execution. Looks like a giant phallus.
Well if you say so. The definition of the word you used means potency and dominance, lets
hope that translates to the football program.

How about some real seats instead of those awful aluminum bench seats!!

I would be a fan of some sections of the stadium converted to seats like they have in the North Endzone. Additionally, I would be a fan of alternating red bleacher seating rows vertically through the stands with the silver bleachers to match our helmets. When you look at the stands, it would look like candy striping but silver and red.

I was partially kidding but i do think it would have looked a lot better with two towers and an archway type deal leading into the parking lot, but they would have had to move it over i guess. But obviously thats a lot of money with the Assembly Hall project going on as well. All about preference i guess. I'm just in a pissy mood because they decided to wait until the first day of school to shut down 17th street.

The top one looks a little cartoonish to me. I've seen it look busier too, sometimes in the end zone.

Just an opinion...but thanks for your interest. I'm a less is more kinda guy.

It's fine, your opinion doesn't bother me. I just wasn't sure if you knew that the top version (quarry theme) had been replaced.

Given all of the upgrades over the past few years there is only so much you can expect. The tailgate lots look great and the new grass lot is nice when you compare to what the purple lot was. Some of the RVs are moving to the new grass lot.

No unfortunately I do not. For the 100th time, how about the script Indiana painted in the end zones? That alone would be such a fan-tastic upgrade to what is there now.
The field turf cannot just be painted. Coloring has to be done at the point of manufacture or it will not hold. I think a script "Indiana" in the end zone would be a great touch when the turf is replaced but it will have to wait until then.

I seem to remember Glass saying that he would be open to the idea of a script Indiana in the end zone when they replaced the turf. Just like you pointed out.

Thanks oldcougar77.....love your boy GO. Sitting on pins and needles awaiting that 60 yard fg. How about one with 0:01 left to play October 3rd that would blow this town apart!

I was not aware the quarry theme was replaced and I like the new one much better. Thanks for the pic.

Of course, the best look for the stadium is a full crowd of Indiana fans and a scoreboard lopsided to the Hoosier's advantage!
