Gaffe machine

They need to keep Biden tied to the teleprompter. His staff is constantly having to try to change his words and make them say something other than what he said.

Well, I agree with what he said. Russia would be a hell of a lot better off without Putin. Vlad is the most dangerous man in the world, and I don’t think there’s a close second.

Maybe Biden could have been a little more artful and a little less public. Who can even guess how Putin might react? I can see the spinners in the White House smacking their collective foreheads and saying, “Joe, Joe, Joe . . . This is not how we do this.”

No one knows what little thing might push Putin over the edge. The best thing for the Ukrainians and the world would be for the Ukrainians to continue their heroic defense and for some sane rooskies in the Kremlin to ease out Vlad, with prejudice.

Joe is correct about that. Most of the world knows that to be true. I think sometimes the White House cleanup makes things worse. Trump could probably say something like that and get away with it because his staff would explain why it’s true using diplospeak jargon.

Finally some consistency from you.

Trump was heralded for saying out loud what people were thinking without being all "politically correct" about it. Joe is just saying what we all are thinking without being explicit about it.

And now we need some consistency from you. Isn't this type of stuff one of the big reasons we were told that Trump was unfit for office?

Somebody had a post on another thread with a link to an article about the US supplying LNG to Europe. The article was praising Biden for a policy that was suggested a few years ago by the evil orange guy and was considered an affront to Euro sensibilities. Basically everything that Trump was criticizing Europe for has come to pass and now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, everyone is moving to do things the mean old last guy was telling them to do before the paste got out of the tube to begin with. Stop trading with the people this alliance is ostensibly created against? Check. Increase military spending? Check. Use the energy wealth of the U.S. to offset the loss of supply from our enemies? Check. The adults are back in charge now though, dontchyaknow.

Trump could say that and get by with it because he spouted off his mouth so much that nobody would have taken it seriously.

If Trump has insinuated that the world would be better off without Putin, then I'd be fine with that. Has he? I don't believe so, BICBW. Which is interesting, actually. I wonder why he hasn't? A statement of that nature would seem to be completely in character for him.

Actually his staff totally screwed the pooch here. In the same speech Biden had already addressed the Russian people and said that we don’t hate them. The simplest way to “correct“ Biden’s statement was to simply say he was addressing the Russian people and telling them to vote Putin out.

The absurdity of it is we elected a president who can't go off script. I mean wtf.

If he goes off script the White House "scrambles" to clarify what he meant/intended etc. This has been an ongoing theme. Because he's too old. He can't go off script and stay on track with the messaging - clearly

The WH spinners should just say he was joking.

The scary thing is, he was reading from a teleprompter. Someone had to write those words for him.

So his staff must be just as incompetent as he is.

Trump neutralized Putin. Putin wasn't building up an invasion force on the Ukranian border when he was President.

It would be staff malpractice for Biden to be put before a microphone without large print teleprompters.
Yeah, even Obama, a gifted orator, used a teleprompter for major speeches.

I don't think it was written for him... he decided to add a little to it....

That may be true but he was gifted enough that he would never ever have said that.

Presumably could cause Putin to use even less restraint
Honestly, I don't think he needs any more motivation.

If he shows any restraint, it's only because he knows if he crosses a certain line, we would likely respond.

? I never said he would have.
I wasn't implying that you did. I was just saying that some speakers can speak off the cuff and not screw up but Biden isn't one of them and I think when he said those words he was speaking off the cuff and not what was on the teleprompter.

it wasn't a gaffe, and the rest of the world has been saying it since the start of the war.

Russia can't be a part of the civilized world again as long as Putin is still alive.

one can argue that it takes away a retreat lane for Putin, but that lane is already gone, and Putin knows it.

Putin is Hitler II, and the siege of Ukraine is Hitler's siege on Russia II, and the US and world need to totally bypass the Kremlin, and take that message, in those words, directly to the Russian people.

and add in that Vladimir Hitler is sending their Russian sons and brothers and husbands and fathers to slaughter and doesn't care, as well as threatening starting a nuclear war.

the key to ending this is information more than weapons.

the Ukrainians could take out every Russian vehicle in Ukraine, and Russia could still blast away from afar.

people don't believe things they don't want to believe, and Russians are no different.

though some never do, eventually most do catch onto the truth if you keep hammering it home to them, especially when the facts, and their sons and husbands, start confirming it.

There's no way of know if he was on the teleprompter or speaking off the cuff when he said that, but I have to think his staff has drilled him time and again about not straying off what was written.

However, I was surprised when he brought up the Ukranian kids hugging his leg......

And then he caught himself when he said Ukranian kids told him something and said "some spoke English". lol Sure they did, Joe.

It's not only because of age. The guy has been a dumb SOB all of his life...

Bob Gates told the entire country that Biden had been on the wrong side on every major policy decision of the past fifty years and was ignored...

No one can say they weren't aware of what they were getting... They had to hide the clown in his own basement (to keep the electorate from seeing what a moron they were attempting to put in the White House... [that..., and they effectively buried his "10% off the top" of Hunter 's world tour of selling out his country to the highest bidder]...

Anyone who ran interference (the media, the FBI, the 50+ retired former National Security leaders [who knew better]..., for this geriatric joker Owns this..., and don't be surprised if it gets worse before it gets better...

Within 24 hours of the Russians finally realizing they had biten off more than they could chew and beginning to make noises about slowing down and consolidating in the two regions they effectively already controlled (which opened the door to real negotiations to end this sh-t) our pathetic excuse for a Commander in Chief goes full dumbass and sprays gasoline on a (temporarily at least) smoldering fire...

*((Not to even mention that he has completely undermined any Russian opposing Putin in country and gave the despot a quote to refer to when he brands them as traitors))*.

((I've been around 3 year olds sharper than POTUS and his minions..)) 😖😣😡

What do think a possibly unstable and certainly paranoid Putin will do? He's going to double down and (in his mind) protect himself...

Leadership doesn't mean diarrhea of the mouth, stream of consciousness ad libs that never make good policy..., especially if it's coming from a serial plagiarizer whose next original thought will be his first...

This dumb SOB may very well screw up and get us all killed... Putin still has the option of going out with a baNg....😖

Who we have in that position (POTUS) matters..., and as has been painfully shown..., the people surrounding him may matter even more...

Put Joe back in his basement and have him take Rice, the Sullivan bro's, Blinken and the idiot VP with him... the backups can't be any worse... A high school government workshop class would be an upgrade to this S&#~%€£#%!!!!

again, it wasn't a gaffe, was planed, and the fake "walking back" what everyone already knows is true, is just spin.

the GOP's worst nightmare is this ends well for Ukraine and the world before November, hopefully long before, and Putin is gone.

to what extent the GOP would sabotage that happening i know not, but that would be right up their playbook.

like Putin, like Trump, they literally have no shame.
