Went with a friend to try this new section that sounded “good on paper” but this is a warning of note to anyone with tickets here in the future About what to expect.
They have a cash bar and some complimentary food (hot dogs, sandwiches, etc). But they seemed to have sold many more tickets than actual seating space along the plexiglass wall to watch the game. We found it very frustrating if you are there actually wanting to watch the game!
After Standing on a corner riser to watch the first quarter, we made the call to move to the side stands where there was some open seats and watched there to halftime. (We Did go back in for second half and by that time, plenty of open seating due to late night and huge lead crowd exodus.)
If IU wanted to get this right, they should have elevated seating along the wall so many people could Sit and See the game, as that is the objective.
Also, ironically from the side stands, the tents up in the Roof at rock section actually blocks visibility to see the huge screen wry well. Could that be placed elsewhere or lower?
I do appreciate the concept, the desire to make extra revenue, etc.
But it can be worse when the fan takeaway experience is more frustration than “this was great!”
If you already have tickets: I strongly suggest you get there EARLY to hold seats along the wall. If you have that you can commit to being there, sitting, eating and watching game in a fun table setting. But if have to stand in obstructed view, it’s not as fun. Your plan B (in a sellout with no seats to go find in the stands.) you can grab a chair, turn around and watch the game on the giant screen and be able to hear the crowd. But that wasn’t my goal.
Consider this a friendly PSA heads up to anyone considering this section ahead.
