Friday night is a huge night for Mick Cronin

I guess maybe...but I'd like to think Dolson is further along in all this than needing to see how Cronin handles himself in Assembly Hall on Friday night.

Lost in all this coaching drama, and the season sucking...is how cool it will be to see UCLA playing IU in Assembly Hall.
meant more for the IU fans than Dolson. some seem concerned about style of play. will be interested to see the reactions come Saturday. and a terrible performance, or undisciplined team could sway Dolson

I thought we had a chance with getting Izzo. Guess he screwed that up with Dolson the other night🙀

A single game isn't going to move the needle much on what Dolson thinks unless the coach throws a chair or something. At least I hope not.

Yep if we are basing a coaching decision on a single game we are in trouble. I would look a the whole picture which is making at least the sweet sixteen three of the last four years.

Why are people on Cronin? If he's worth a 16-20M buyout, we're living in the Twilight Zone.
If that's what his actual buyout would end up being...I think that probably disqualifies him as a viable candidate. He's a solid coach, what he did his first few years at UCLA is what makes him so...but not good enough to absorb that amount of money, I wouldn't think.

Cronin wouldn't be an option if his buyout were a cheeseburger and fries. Jmo.

That is the first I have seen that number anywhere. I have not seen people saying his buyout is a massive issue.

Per USA Today...

"Cronin has the largest (known) buyout out of any coaching candidate, as he’s owed a whopping $20 million if his deal is broken before Mar. 30, and $16 million before Mar. 31, 2025."

that can be negotiated, you would be surprised how many coaches have the same agent

Negotiated for ... Mick F'ing Cronin? The guy is a solid coach, but he's a Grade A d***head. IU has had one of those for the past eight years. I don't think I'm the only IU fan who feels this way.

mick is a great guy, very respected, what the hell are you talking about

If I had to place a wager, I'd say CB has never been an option for SD. Too many scars from the Sampson debacle.
I’m going to disagree. Not that I know anything, but I don’t think Dolson will disqualify a candidate because it might hurt a few feelings. If Dolson does his research and feels Beard is the best candidate to bring IU back, I think he’ll take that chance. As I’ve said before, I don’t believe it matters who Dolson ends up choosing, some will find something to complain about.
I think the largest majority of IU alumni/fans just want to enjoy watching IU basketball again. I know I do.

3 coaches Beard Cronin and Will Wade, Wade will not be a candidate for IU as of now, but will get hired by Ole Miss or UCLA if they lose their coach

I think Beard is a unique circumstance. Logically, Dolson has known he was going to be making this move, probably for a over a year at this point. At some point in the last year, he would have ran checks on Beard, and had discussions with Whitten, at least, on Beard. I put the odds on him pursuing Beard without Whitten's prior approval, at less than zero. And I just can't fathom them together deciding to take on the risks, with IU's past and current situations, and Beard's past situation.

Good point. I’m sure Whitten is still reveling in what Coach Cignetti has done for IU football. If her and Dolson can come up with a winner without causing any distractions, even better. Just want their due diligence.
GO HOOSIERS!!

I assume it can be negotiated.
