Forum

A little of both probably. Always slow this time of year, but most are probably thinking ‘why type something now that in a month or so will just be erased’?

This forum is being shut down at the end of the month.

hoosierhuddle.com on July 1

Festivus always began with an airing of grievances.

June 30th....let's have some fun.

I tried to go to hoosierhuddle.com it says the domain isn't available. Is it something that will start on July 1st.

If it wasn't a national thing, I would for sure try to buy the Indiana site to keep it alive. Can't think they would allow the Indiana rivals to keep going.
You have done a good job Cav. I remember the Archie years when there were a lot of die hard Archie fans (still can’t understand why) that would attack anyone who questioned him with page after page of junior high school insults. It was terrible but you improved it immensely. But…you should have banned Kraft and a few others for their entire miserable lifetimes. :). Hall of famer.

There are some good folks on the rivals boards. Guys I would "have a beer" with. More like smoke a doobie, but you get the point. I don't know what Im gonna do after this disappears. This is my comfort website.

The only free place I know of is reddit, so that’s probably where I will be until something else pops up. I’ve followed the Pacers game threads over there. We need to find a way to keep those IU game day chatzy site chats going though!

HSN is another option, if you don't want to pay for Peegs.

Peegs damn near banned me for being too critical of Archie and Allen. Screw him. BTown Banners actually banned me for doing the same thing. I was 100% vindicated in the end.

HoosierHuddle.com will go live on July 1st, after they pull the plug on this Indiana Rivals site. All indications are there be free forums available there, along with the great reporting we've seen recently from Sammy and TJ and the gang.

Hooky is looking at setting up a new Discord channel for IU chats. Stay tuned.

Working on setting up the Freeloader Game Chat in Discord instead of Chatzy. The number of users in the Chatzy room is limited unless I paid for the premium, plus the layout was tough to use on phones and to a lesser extent tablets.

I'm planning on going to the Hoosier Huddle site, so I'll post the Discord info over there as football season gets closer.

this thread is a good example of why college sports will die. People are not interested in even paying a couple bucks for a website, let alone paying several hundred directly to the athletic department or NIL collectives.

That analogy doesn’t make sense. A crappy website has nothing to do with athletic dept/NIL funding (which people are very interested in and are sending a lot of $ to).

I think quite a few of us are willing to pay a few bucks. I didn't join the pay sub before because I didn't think it was worth anything over the free message board.

Hoosier Huddle comes in and I intended to join, because they seemed an improvement and worth it. Then they get sort of screwed... I have no interest in supporting the people that seemed to hide information from the Huddle buyers.

I tried the 247 site, don't like it. So don't hang there. I suppose I could get used to it, it's just the look and feel, and the free board had little going on. Years ago, not sure now.

I'll hang out on reddit now I guess. (Floatcopper) . If Huddle associates themselves with a pay site, I'll probably subscribe. Until then their free forum if they have one. They've done a good job with this one.

I assume my subscription here will carry over to On3. If that sucks, which I suspect it will, I will come to the Huddle or maybe just retire

If the huddle creates a board called water cooler and it's free, 90% of people here will join.

You are wrong about that. Two completely different situations. At least for me.

Tough to see why the Hoosier Huddle would want the Water Cooler. Very little if any monetary value and they have to deal with a toxic dump of non-stop stupid political arguments.
They are trying to get a sight going so whatever brings the folks from here to get it off the ground. The Water Closet people post in the basketball forums, too. Nobody is obligated to go that forum. What are they dealing with exactly? Creating an extra Forum topic?

They have to moderate the cesspool. Or deal with the disputes between moderators. Prospective posters/subs will see the cesspool and it’s not a good look.

Not a good look based on what? Politics is a cesspool in general. Seems the main people on the WC have been agreeing to disagree for quite a long time proving it works. Maybe some people would like to join because they could post in their politcal form.

The WC mods are those who participate in the forum and have for a long time. Delegation to the mods is so website providers don't have to deal with it. So what if they make a mod decision every couple of years. I';ve only seen 2 mods over there and they are the same ones now since I made my first WC post 4 or 5 years ago. Nobody is being forced to read any of those topics. They can watch podcasts from Hoosier Huddle about IU sports to see the quality that Jacob ad TJ bring to the table on the sports side.

Not much reason to have a cesspool generating like $10/month in ad revenue. There is little value is serving ads to that board. It’s obviously up to HH it just looks like a silly move. There is a reason most message boards avoid politics — it’s a net negative.

I presume WC was created to keep politics off of the sports boards. It seems to work reasonably well, not perfect but nothing is.

Any new site is going to have to either strictly ban people who want to talk about politics, or give them someplace to do it.
