Football only weight room

I could see where 6ft tall beautiful women would certainly be a distraction to a young man!

Hell, I would've turned that into a recruiting advantage, not a recruiting disadvantage!!!
If you're just making a joke that's fine, I can't really tell so I'm going to respond as if you're being serious.

No prospective football recruit is turned on by the idea that the weight room can morph into a pickup scene, much less the recruit's parents, who accompany most recruits on their visits. My guess is you were never a D-I athlete so I'll just say believe it or not, these guys actually take their work outs seriously. There's a time and a place for that kind of behavior to occur, but this isn't the SRSC, everyone that's there is a real athlete.

Are you asking an actual question, or a rhetorical question to make the point that FB doesn't need it's own weight room?
I don't know, either. Does Cook Hall have a weight room? I assume it does, but don't know.

Wait - they share this with the Women's team? How can they possibly draw in recruits when they have to share an entire facility?

LOL
Last time I checked there isn’t a women’s football team. 26 people in a fitness area isn’t 100. Your arguments are just weird.

I'm going to guess the current weight room is already a lot bigger than the one in cook hall so that takes care of the 100 vs 26 argument ;).

I don't think there's a men's volleyball team, either. The subject is various teams using the same weight room. Who cares if it's the same sport? It's still not dedicated to one team.

You stepped in it and gave argument for a mixed use facility.

It's OK, though - there will be a dedicated space for the football team. Stop being so triggered by the discussion.

But they have to share it with the women's basketball team. It's a travesty ;)
As I mentioned yesterday, we won three national championships practicing in Assembly Hall. No need for Cook Hall. And, at one time, the soccer team played in Memorial Stadium. Armstrong Stadium is a waste . . .

Why argue a done deal? You guys are strange ones. The university, coaches 80% of sport’s affiliated people agree with us. You guys love to pick the opposing argument and pick it to death. It’s like you are Purdue fans in Bloomington. Pick the opposite team just because. It’s weird.

Triggered? You learn that from watching fox or a random meme? Strange bunch. It’s like you guys really don’t want proper facilities but that ok. Weird.

Well, when you tell someone they're full of shit for their opinion on sharing a weight room that is 25,000 sq ft, you might have a problem.

Lol. Sounds like you might be the triggered one. You are full of shit. You that sensitive?

Do you realize it takes 2 sides to keep an argument going?

Sorry for having a different opinion than you but I think the amount of money spent by all colleges on the arms race in athletics is ridiculous.

Since the arms race is pretty much a given, sure it helps our team to try to keep up and that is better than the alternative of giving up and sucking but doesn't mean I have to like what it has turned into.

Arguably it all is a waste compared to the general mission of a University.

Oregon and Washington now invited....the ante just got raised if they accept (which I'll lay a heavy amount of money they will)...so IF it is only a divider wall and some new equipment, IU then might as well consider going to the MAC or ACC....because the Big 10 could ask them to leave since football isn't a priority and every other school in the league now (yes, even UCLA...which at least does a better job with football than IU) has made it so and has a better tradition than IU

So now the Big 18 with 20 being more likely very soon.

USC and UCLA join next school year (24-25). Looks like Oregon and Washington will get to join at the same time.

General mission is to get as many quality academic and football schools with lucrative markets to be a partner in everything including research. The B1G is winning. The SEC has one basket. The B1G has many. IU better be all aboard.

I think he meant the mission of the school (re: teaching students and earning degrees) or least what the school's mission should be. Deep down it's more about making money like the athletic dept.

I was aware of what he was saying. That used to be true. Money first then teach.

How would a large space like IU's divided and updated compare to others?

At some point it seems like they would run out of space in Memorial Stadium.

It would almost seem more prudent to build a weight room elsewhere and just move the non-football teams to it and leave or enlarge the current one as a football only weight room.

Pretty soon we might have the rest of the Pac12 in the B10. Then we could set up divisions the West Coast and the Midwest coast divisions and have the division winners play in the Rose Bowl.
