I was watching an All-Star game on television last night. The announcer said they were 212 Florida high school football players in the NFL. The state with the second most was California with 195. Looks like CTA is on to something.

It has been that way for decades.

Florida's population is about 19 million, about the size of New York. The black population is about 3 million in both states. California has a population of 38 million and a black population of 2.3 million. With the demographics and favorable weather I can see a day where the state of Florida has its own Big Ten Conference

Texas has 28.5 million and 12%, or approximately 3.4 million are African-American.

Danny Hope's purdue roster I believe was over 50% Florida players so there are other factors involved in having a successful team.

I was going to start a new thread and I still might do it concerning recruiting the state of Mississippi. I realize this thread is about recruiting the state of Florida, but after watching UofL lose to Mississippi State yesterday, I think Indiana must focus on recruiting MS.

Coach Allen has strong ties to Ole Miss and I'm sure he has some strong contacts down there. MSU seems to always field a big, long, athletic football team. They may not always win a ton of games but they're usually pretty decent. Ole Miss is similar but they don't seem to have the defensive talent year in, year out that MSU does.

That said, it would benefit the porogram to laser in on Mississippi recruiting. There's lots and lots of big, long, athletic lineman down there.
