No matter the score after the first half of play, Coach Knight would walk off the floor with his head down as he processed the moves he'd make during halftime. We, the fans, knew he'd make the adjustments, and the second half would be different. This is what's missing. CMW simply doesn't know how to pivot. High ball screen to low post play is all he knows. "I gotta get them over the hump" is nothing more than "I cannot get them to play the single type of basketball I am able to coach."

We need an in-game coach who can exhaust the opponent's weaknesses and force them to play a game that puts pressure on their weakest positions. I didn't like Sampson (I thought he played like the old UNLV squads), but my goodness, he could win a game with lesser talent.

Wasn't it Coach Knight that said it was all about making the opposing team makes mistakes and the take advantage of the mistakes? We don't do that.

As an OLD SOB myself I can attest to becoming more and more stubborn as I get older. Woody shows those same traits as a person. I DON'T speak in 3rd person like he does but to me that is very telling when he does. After the 2nd Woodson season, I didn't believe a word he said. I knew he was not going to change, only the players would each year. He has no excuses to use this year yet we have already heard the "new team" just the other day while other college teams with not only new coaches but 12 new players are beating ranked opponents. I watch games now as an IU alum, out of curiosity, or a movie. Losing doesn't matter to me anymore when years ago I would be pissed off and depressed after a loss until the next game.

I KNOW Knight isn't coming back, so you can save that comment.

I KNOW that what we see is who we are as far as IU basketball. But all of this is not coming from a "true IU fan" so ignore it.

I wouldn’t place our thoughts as old guys who want the years of the past. I think we are fans who demand a coach that can adapt to challenges on the fly.
