Fire him

I think that depends on the individual program and what resources are available to make a program relevant, or relevant again. We still have everything in place that made us great (fertile recruiting ground, money, facilities, fan/alumni base). The only thing we have lacked is a coach that is able to take advantage of it all.
Yes. There is always hope. There are only so many HC jobs with top-5 NIL, a big budget to run the program, and all the "blue blood" stuff. It can be done if we don't repeat the same mistake of the past 25 years -- unqualified people meddling in the coaching hire leading to bad hires.

He wont. We know why as well.
I didnt watch. Anyone else out there not watch as well? I WANT more results like this every conference game home and away. To get rid of this bullshit and to also have Woodson own and have to sit through these embarrasements.
I got home with about 4 minutes left in the game. Checked the ESPN live score web page, saw the writing on the wall, and went to make something to eat. Turned on Fisch on radio in case it got interesting, but that was it. Fisch himself sounded pretty disinterested at that point. Didn't listen to the post-game show, figured it would be the usual "we gotta make our shots, get over the hump"

Nice that Don has IU fball this year. Must be getting tired of calling the bball games.

Be interesting how ugly it gets in the hall for Woodson..At some home game in February when the team doesn't show up .
And we're not even on the bubble.
Hopefully his fate is sealed by then.
My guess is some light booing during intros and maybe halftime if we play bad.

Attendance may continue to be poor. The number of true fans is dwindling.

I remember home games from the end of the Davis years. Those were ugly environments. Booing. You could clearly hear people yelling “fire Mike Davis”. Not just people close by. You could hear people from the other side of the building.

When Coach Grant (now at Dayton) took over the Alabama head coaching job, not only did he speak to Saban but he had basketball recruits speak to Saban as well on visits.
That makes sense--Saban was (and still is) the "King of Tuscaloosa." Why would Bigfoot want recruits to talk to anyone but the self-proclaimed "King of Indiana"?

I didn’t watch. Checked score occasionally online.

99% likely.

And that will be it for Woodson.

That's why I don't understand all the worry here about him sticking around.
We read posts just like this one last year. Yet, here he is. As long as the wrong people are allowed to control the basketball program, no effort will be made to find the best coach or replace the one they installed.

i knew he was coming back, so I guess I ignored those. things are way different now. way worse. football has taken off. the AD is ready to capitalize. no more doinking around with Woodson. the future is now. be the ball kind of thing.

One last time... The buyout restructure speaks volumes. Barring a miraculous turnaround, Woody will start receiving his $1 mil per year retirement from IU.

Yeah he was never not coming back this year but as you say much has changed. Chatter is that control of this has been wrested from QB.

May your intuition be RIGHT!
It is WAY past time to move on.

In the “1%” chance that IU makes the tournament, what do you suggest? A lifetime extension? Rings for all the players?

This is a team that has plenty of talent. How far are we going to lower the bar?

In the offseason if I suggested that making the tournament and being (say) .500 in conference play would be a good season I would have been laughed off the forum.

If the bar keeps getting lowered I could see people selling “we’re back!” Tee shirts again for seeing us match last seasons record.

I wonder if IU would make a run at Scott Drew? A proven winner with roots in Indiana. He is committed to Baylor and Texas, turned down Kentucky, etc. But, he's in his mid fifties and might have one new challenge remaining as a coach. Ironically, pressure at IU would probably be less than what he has right now at Baylor .....and light years less than Kentucky.
