ESPN sucks.

you don't to prove damages w defamation per se. they are presumed.

examples of def per se: imputation of criminal offense
You're mixing up fault with damages, as is google's AI. You need damages (monetary loss) in order to recover anything in your lawsuit (and to convince a lawyer to bother with it).

Unless you want to pay a lawyer hundreds an hour just to get a declaratory judgement that you won, which would be stupid and a waste to taxpayer money.

Did ESPN say IU committed a crime, has a loathsome disease, is unable to be a college, or is a bad university? I don't watch the talking heads much, but dud they actually lie about us, or just say we shouldn't have been selected for the CFP?

That doesn't mean that it wasn't the closest of the 3.

We punted down 24 in the 4th and I started letting dogs out, locking down house, going to bed.

It never felt close and I would turn down the 3rd Best Loser trophy if there was one.

we actually had a chance to win at the end of the game unlike the other 3

not a big one for sure....but a chance

Imagine if the NFL said, well, we know the Vikings finished 2 games ahead of the Packers but we think the Packers played harder teams so we're giving the playoff spot to the Packers...everybody knows they are beter anyways. The Vikings would be like, uh, why the heck did we bother playing the games if you had already decided in your mind?!

The NFL takes strides to prevent unequal scheduling. Now if they had OOC games and some teams scheduled the Chiefs and Ravens while others played two college teams…..

And for the record, I’m not saying IU didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. I’m just saying how I think playoff teams should be decided. I’m not saying they were undeserving based on how they ARE decided.

I think historical bias is an issue that needs to be addressed. We're talking about the 2024 College Football Playoff, not the Lifetime Achievement CFB Playoff. We should evaluate what happened on the field in 2024. What Indiana and Alabama did in past seasons shouldn't have any influence on committee selections. You play the schedule that you have. And Indiana boatraced it's schedule. They were dominant. They had a top offense and a top defense in the country. No bad losses. Alabama had two bad losses relative to other Playoff teams. IU put up more of a fight in Columbus than Tennessee did, and Tennessee beat Alabama. Notre Dame's SoS was only slightly better than Indiana's and they lost to a MAC team. But no one questioned whether they should be in the Playoff field. Why? Because we are allowing historical bias to color our evaluation of teams.
The games have to matter. If you are Alabama or Ole Miss going 5-3 in a tough Conference is respectable. You are good football teams. Very good. But Indiana was a tie-breaker away from being in the B1G Championship. South Carolina and Missouri were also 9-3 and 5-3 in the SEC. Nobody is crying about them getting passed over by lowely Indiana and SMU. Why? Again I would argue that historical bias is a big factor. Lifetime achievement and recent success are being used as lazy tie-breakers rather than objective evaluation of what actually transpired on the football field.

You’re spiraling further and further away from posting responses which logically address my point (whether or not my point was stupid).
Your stupid point has been beaten to death. I see no need to keep kicking it. You can't breathe any more life into it, so you've resorted to personal insults. But I don't care about your opinion of me, so your insults are meaningless.

Hey, since you knew what would happen, link to the post where you predicted an 11-1 IU season where they miss the playoff due to a weak schedule.

If you’ll address my point instead of addressing some point you conjured up and then assigned to me then perhaps my point will evolve Maybe it will even devolve into mush.

Yeah, Purdue stunk this year. So bad they fired a second year coach. Doesn't change the fact that ND let way off the gas the last 4 minutes to allow IU 14 utterly meaningless points to make the final score less indicative of what the game was like.
How obsessed with IU do you have to be to come hear and sob about IU FB?

Half as obsessed as you are since over half your posts are about Purdue fans. You have to be one of the most clueless posters on the internet to how you actually look to others. Even IU fans laugh at you.
This is not remotely accurate as none of your posts seem to be. Link to the laughing?

I haven’t posted in your board in over a decade yet you live here trashing IU. You are the poster child of IU obsession and bitterness

IU should have scheduled a top 10 OOC game. Win that game and nobody is saying they didnt belong. IU can prove they belonged, or didn’t, by performance next year.

2022, it didn't look like we needed a strong OOC game. Michigan, OSU, Washington. I get the feeling that the butt-hurt with ESPN is that not the strength of our OOC opponents but the fact that none were from the SEC, ACC, or Big12. We should have scheduled FSU.

Exactly, these schedules including dropping UL was specifically to get 6-7 wins and a bowl. Yes, knowing what we know now it would have been nice to keep UL and have that win out of conf. shutting up at least some of the whiners.

Part of the problem now is most fans think ND is crap and cant compete with top 5 teams. If ND beats or plays UGA close, a lot of people will shut up about IU.

No they won’t. Last week won’t be mentioned after Christmas but the constant hate narrative toward IU won’t be forgetting. They were still hating on IU on the Sirius College Sports Radio channel today.

On the bright side at least we are being talked about. Of course I don't like the haterade but every time some pundit rants about us it further entrenches us in the CFB conversation. We need to capitalize on this and leverage it on the recruiting front and in the transfer portal. And hopefully it will translate into a bigger pile of NIL cash.
