ESPN sucks.

I vote that they completely do away with the college football playoff. Stick to all the bowl games only. They allow for travel and sightseeing. They are better events!
The champion is declared at year end by a complex algorithm: an AP Vote. a coaches vote, 3 coin flips and a best of 3 game of “Rocks, Paper, Scissors.”

IU came to life against ND's second stringers to score 14 meaningless points in the last 4 minutes of the game. The 27-3 score more represents ND's complete domination of IU in every aspect of the game. Only those with rose colored glasses will try to use the final score as justification of anything.
**** off. SMU and Clemson got and are getting waxed worse than IU.

Little prediction-
The margin of victory in every one of these other games will be larger than last night but IU will be the only one to take any significant flak for how they lost.
They dislike Cignetti because of his bravado.
It’s the same way they disliked Bob Knight. The media and talking heads need a villain to trash. And quite frankly, I love it!
Nobody ever trashed IU because we never did anything. We were languishing through 3 win seasons. When they pay attention to you, it means you are making gains.

Oh, other outlets but ESPN will rake the ACC over the coals for its poor showing, but ESPN is trying to not rock the ACC boat anymore than necessary so they can keep exploiting that cheap assed contract they have the ACC on.

You’ll have to give this guy a break. MichaelRR is a Purdue fan. You remember Purdue, right? The same team that lost to both IU and ND this year by a combined score of 132-7. Let that sink in. IU let off the gas on the Toiletmakers. Could have scored another two touchdowns on them.

A national playoff tournament is not a valid tournament when teams start the thing off on their home field. I'm not saying it would have made any difference last night but it is still BS. I say give the SEC the College Football Playoff and seed everyone else in the old school bowl games. See how the SEC likes claiming a championship with an asterisk every year. Otherwise, the SEC bs will continue for eternity; particularly when the media gets aroused every time they discuss the SEC.
National playoff, the whole thing seems fake.

Yeah, Purdue stunk this year. So bad they fired a second year coach. Doesn't change the fact that ND let way off the gas the last 4 minutes to allow IU 14 utterly meaningless points to make the final score less indicative of what the game was like.

Was the IU vs Purdue game this year a fluke? Was that game indicative of the score?
You guys were raving about Walters prior to the season. This was the year he was going to make big leaps. You couldn’t have been more wrong. But you and I do agree wholeheartedly on one thing:
Pedophile Pete never touched those young kids and the allegations were false.

You know that spreads are not a prediction of who will win right? It's a prediction of how many points the book has to offer to get an even amount of wagers on both sides of the game.

Um, yes, I know that. I’m not sure of your point. A spread/line on a neutral field is the most unbiased way of determining the better team. You can also bet odds to win if that makes it better.

I think the soft schedule winding up in a playoff took dominoes falling in weird ways. With what you knew at the beginning of the season, a top 10 OOC game would have increased your chances. Of course, you would have needed to win that game which was entirely possible.
Entirely possible? Oh man, great odds.

Playing teams that will probably beat us is not the path to the CFP.

It always makes me laugh when people act like betting odds aren't the most accurate predictor of outcomes.

If anyone was more accurate than betting odds, they would be rich.

There are people who are more accurate than the odds. They are known as sharps and the books won't take their action, otherwise they would be rich.

The books make their money on the vig, not on being right more than everyone else. If the book has done their job correctly, they've won before the game even starts.

You guys are arguing with a broiler and a cousin humoer who likely got booted off the kentucky board for being a complete a-hole.

Did you know that IU is the worst team in college football history if your definition of that distinction is total losses going back to the late 1800's???

By my count, the embarrassingly shitty ESPN media mentioned that No Shit Sherlock factoid a dozen times during the gameday pregame and the game.

Lazy by ESPN to setup and expound the company line narrative they were rooting for. That Indiana didn't belong and changes are needed to get more SEC teams in.

Btw you ESPN jackasses. Volunteers getting ram rodded by Ohio St. from the jump, run your dirty whore mouths now about these Tennessee frauds.

They obviously don't belong either.

Cig is now 1-3 with gameday around the last 2 seasons. I know it's great promotion for IU, but just maybe, we say FU the next time they want to visit.

Crimson Buffalo pointed out much of this elsewhere:

Exhibit A: Tennessee beat Alabama. Alabama lost two games to SEC teams that won a combined 5 conference games (two of which were against Alabama).
Exhibit B: Tennessee is getting pasted by Ohio State.
Exhibit C: Indiana led OSU well into the 2nd quarter. The only reason it wasn't tied at halftime was that 🤬 blocked punt if I remember rightly. Meanwhile Tennessee was down 21-0 before I could finish my 2nd bowl of Cignetti Crunch. It's 42-17 with time winding down. (Now final.)
Also interesting that Indiana beat Michigan despite not playing that well. Michigan of course beat Ohio State. Alabama plays Michigan in their Bowl game and they better take that game seriously or they are in for a rude surprise. But of course if Bama loses it will be because half the team sat out the game for 'business' reasons.

He is cocky. Why wouldn’t he be? He took the worst program in history to the playoffs in one season. He has won something like four conference coach of the year awards. Never had a losing season.

And I add, that a lot of that cocky is intentional. What I U lacks that all the big football schools have is that depth of bona fides-- football name recognition necessary for recruiting. The bombastic comments he makes are about his only tool for getting across his serious intent to build a powerhouse and add swagger to IU.

You'd think sports fans would trumpet such a turn around

But alas, the old-money beoxhes wont stoop to greet the new-money achievements.

What you are omitting. and is kind of the point, those teams had a lot more chances to screw up
