I like McCollom a lot.For all those talking about Drake’s low scoring games, I’m watching Michigan and Nebraska in a high scoring affair tied at 37 with just over 9 minutes left….in the game.
Combined scoring is 29 out of 100 shots for the game. Woof.
I do too. You don’t have a career .817 winning percentage by accident. Age 43 and he’s been a head coach for 15 years. The dude’s been a head coach since he was 28 years old. If you got it, you got it.I like McCollom a lot.
My only concern with BM is the jump from D2 to IU in two seasons. After eight years of Tweetle Dumb and Tweetle Dipshit, the fan base is foaming at the mouth for a winner. Whoever it is will be stepping into the most pressure-filled coaching job in CBB ... bar none.I do too. You don’t have a career .817 winning percentage by accident. Concern is valid, but this dude wasn’t just a good coach. He was dominant to the tune of 21 losses over his last 8 years at NWMS . 4 titles in 6 years because one season was ended by Covid in which he was favored to win 4 straight and 5 out of 6. He made the leap to a new level this year and has responded with 25-3. McCollum is just a winner. My only concern with BM is the jump from D2 to IU in two seasons. I get that but at the end of the day, the coaching piece of it doesn’t change. You don’t have to be a D1 coach to teach fundamentals and be a sound tactician. All these guys that are big names in everyone’s minds all got started somewhere. My only concern with BM is the jump from D2 to IU in two seasons. It's fear of another Archie that has soured many on taking a look at mid-major and D2 coaches. But McCollum achievements far exceed what Archie had achieved prior to his hire at IU.I get that but at the end of the day, the coaching piece of it doesn’t change. There was a month-long lovefest here with Dusty May, who’s only been a head coach for 7 years and 4 of those years were not good, at all. And, the same people look down their nose at guys who have coached twice as long with tremendous success.at a D2 level.
I'm all in on McCollum if Dolson can't land a big fish, despite my reservations. He can flat-out coach.I get that but at the end of the day, the coaching piece of it doesn’t change. Not an accident. But it's still a gamble.I do too. You don’t have a career .817 winning percentage by accident. Age 43 and he’s been a head coach for 15 years. The dude’s been a head coach since he was 28 years old. If you got it, you got it.
He could probably bring a player or two with him? And hard to believe he could not find two or three kids in the portal to suit his style. Not an accident. But it's still a gamble.
His style of play is unique. It may not translate right away to the Big Ten. He might need 3 years to build it up with the kind of players he needs. He can't just open the 5 star cupboard and make it work right away.
I would support him and cross my fingers, but he isn't a guarantee.
Maybe. I like that he has a vision of how to win. His team has this 1v1 style and the guys running that can't do it against Big Ten defenders. He needs a bunch of John Tonjes. Perhaps he can recruit them. Not sure.He could probably bring a player or two with him? And hard to believe he could not find two or three kids in the portal to suit his style.
Every coach is a gamble, to some extent.
