dusty may

can't remember the guy at Wisconsin who proceeded Bo Ryan, but if I recall right, he done a decent job by Wisconsin standards at the time may have even been an interim coach. but Alvarez being a leader made the difficult choice, and Wisconsin has owned are ass for 20 years.

A blind person can see that Woodson has a very low ceiling, squeaking into the tournament is about it. if that's the standard tell the fan base. I don't think it is. bottom line is Dusty May should be running our program not Mike Woodson. might have hurt some feelings but this is a business. We pissed away an opportunity to change the complexion of IU basketball for a generation

IU is the king of waiting too long to hire a coach who wants to be here and then goes on to win big somewhere else. Just complete ineptitude from the administration. Unforgivable.

Brad Soderberg was between Dick Bennett and Ryan.

Soderberg impressed me as a soft spoken but talented coach. Had a good run at St. Louis as a HC.
He has been an asst at Virginia for some time but is now a scout for them.
So he is available should we want him……might be an upgrade.?

I think you are thinking back to the same time. Mike Davis was the interim at IU and I don’t know who was the interim for wisky. IU hired MD full time and wisky opted to do a search and as you say, the rest is history as to the two programs evolved from there.

didn't Bennett retire or have health issues that made him leave mid-season. then Soderberg took over and everyone thought the job was his. but Alvarez said no we can and will do better.

How frustrating……

Go back to the time before the Bennett hire, where was Wisconsin as a program?

They’ve made some good hires, and built a program and established and maintained a culture.

And IU in that same period?
