I think you missed my point. Is May only thinking of the ceiling? In other words, I think in his mind he has established a floor at Michigan, for his success there. So lay out for me the thinking of going to a program with better history, NIL and fan support would have an equal or lower ceiling. Bball still matters more at IU and will always be a 2nd thought at UM. Now, in a down season/stretch, that might have it's advantages, but IU has proven to be at least as patient with coaches (otherwise we may well have May as our coach now), and top tier guys aren't thinking about bad seasons. I'm not saying he'd come, just because he's only been there a year, but if you've already decided to consider IU, I think it clearly has advantages over UM and that's not considering that you grew up near the campus and program.
and my point is that someone who views themselves as really good at their job doesn't usually think about the floor of that job (and if they are, you better sniff that out in the hiring process), they think about the advantages and what the position affords. In the business world, most don't take a job for the base salary, it's the bonus/commission and how much they'll make if they succeed. If May is thinking about the floor, he's the wrong guy. And, I think most would agree the coaching job at IU has advantages he probably won't get at UM. If we wanted May, then we waited a year too long. But, I still think it's reasonable to think he may still be interested, and that most would view the advantages at IU as > than at UM.I think you missed my point. Is May only thinking of the ceiling? If he leaves Michigan for IU because he feels IU offers a higher ceiling of success, what is the floor? Is there a risk that he makes the move and at IU he does worse than where he now has Michigan?
I agree with all of that, but what is the difference in the ceiling? He’s at Michigan, a program that has won a basketball title, a school that has an elite revenue source (football) . If, as you say, he feels he is really good at his job, doesn’t he feel he could reach similar levels at either program?and my point is that someone who views themselves as really good at their job doesn't usually think about the floor of that job (and if they are, you better sniff that out in the hiring process), they think about the advantages and what the position affords. I dont know how you figured out Culver”s was mixed up in this but darn good find. Another avenue of information through Culver’s is to look in the bathroom for a telephone number. It’s usually scratched in the paint in one of the stalls. Call the number and tell them you have Cosmic Eyes Only clearance. Tell them you need to know who the next IU coach will be. You must be forceful and don’t let them BS you about any kind of “service”. Good luck.I hear he's stopping at Culver's to have his picture taken with Laz.
Laskowski would never stand for anything scrawled on the walls. He runs a tight ship. Definitely a disciple of RMK.I dont know how you figured out Culver”s was mixed up in this but darn good find.
