Dix to creighton

Is it time to start asking if there are some issues endemic to IU basketball that are putting us at a disadvantage with players regardless of who the coach is? I’ve never bought into that in the past and been “that guy” but I’m slowly starting to become “that guy”.

Josh's mother has cancer. I do not know the immediate severity and don't care to pry on that but obviously, cancer is very serious. He is from a suburb of Omaha and his family still lives there. That is why Creighton was the immediate favorite to land his services. There were a LOT of rumors that Josh Dix did not want to play with Owen Freeman (another Iowa transfer) again and that Creighton would not be able to land them both. Freeman committed to Creighton and it was thought to be a battle between Illinois-IU and a return to Iowa. Committing to Creighton would have been expected a few days ago but it was a surprise for that to be the choice this morning. Best of luck to him and I hope being close to his mother is good for the whole family.

For IU, the search for roster additions carries on. Tucker DeVries-Conor Enright-Trent Sisley remains the extent of the rebuild as of this morning. That is perfectly fine and there is no need to panic yet. IU still has a whole lot to get accomplished (including still finalizing a staff) and things will need to pick up substantially over the next several days.

Any color on the change in heart that we had in timing related to announcing the new staff? I first heard we weren’t going to make an announcement until everyone was finalized. That changed. Was that change because players were committing quicker than we thought, and we needed to pivot?

I’m anxious about the roster. Where are the visits and buzz about IU?
That said, there are a lot of good players left and likely more good players joining the portal. The staff knows how much money they have and I still expect them to make a splash. At least I know CDD is working hard targeting players and hasn’t carelessly overspent on underwhelming targets.

I hope Sebastian Mack and Riley make visits to IU plus two bigs because IU GONNA NEED SOME NEW BLOOD. Plus another back up point guard and PF would be nice. There are still plenty of good players out there, I just wonder if CDD is waiting on Apr. 7 so he can use money value better.

On March 23, 2024, Dusty May was named the head basketball coach at the University of Michigan, agreeing to a five-year contract with an average value of $3.75 million annually.[11][12][13] In his first month as head coach, May garnered seven new roster commitments in a five-day span, from April 19 to 24.[14] On April 29, he added his eighth offseason commitment, his former center at FAU, Vladislav Goldin.[15]

This was Dusty’s first effort with building an entire roster, DD just did this a year ago. Everybody calm down.

And somebody needs to re-pin that graphic showing the dates on which DD secured players for WVU last year. It was successful, but took a couple months.

Who knows if it's truth or after-the-fact justification, but several have described DD as committed to getting it right up front; he's not gambling and he is going to do his due diligence and be very intentional.

But it's not to other's..Plus winters suck!
On top of a somewhat of a unknown coach..

By some accounts, Woody and crew came in second to the Vols for the services of the best college basketball player in '24, Dalton Knecht.

I doubt this one stings as bad as that one when all is said and done.

with the new NIL rules, can we lure dudes who played yes than 4 years in college and maybe aren't all that happy with their current situation? Maybe we add Zion and Ja to gets some momentum going. too bad Luka seems happy in LA, he'd be a great add!

You have NO idea if IU could have hired May last year.
I read somewhere that he didn't want the fishbowl that is IU but I don't know either, just like you.

Aren't we in a dead period from April 3-10. Does that mean we will not be hearing about anything until after the 10th?

I hope Scott and Quinn are happy with what they have done to the program!

This started earlier than that. I know where you're coming from though. I think we're a fanbase suffering from 25 years of ptsd. We blow-up quicker and faster every year over everything that feels like another miscue by the staff or the administration. I'm glad we didn't get Dix. Let Creighton pay 3+ million for two ex-Hawkeys and see how that works out. He was suppose to be going to Creighton the minute he entered the portal due to his mom's condition. It didn't stop him from taking multiple visits though. Sounds like there may have been some financial motivations as well.

2 weeks from now we'll know more.

Oh yeah, I found my way onto a Jayhawk nation by accident and they're calling for Selfs head. Two NCAA championships this century. Kentucky fell apart over Calipari the last 5 years. Fans get crazy when they have expectations. We're just going down swinging when by now most other fans in our situation would've gave up.

Yeah its amazing at those schools the expectations vs IU where just making the tourney saves your job.

Everyone shut up. Geez. Last year nothing significant happened until late mid-April to late April and well into May. Just shut up. Every one of you!
We had 3 returning starters last year plus 2 more. There's a difference, sweater vest.
