Did Luka really just get traded to the Lakers for AD?

I read a theory is Cuban doesn’t think Doncic body can hold up due to his lack of conditioning. Essentially he’s selling high on a depreciating asset. While I can get behind that theory and suggest it’s smart, the problem is he didn’t get a good return. I mean Davis is a great piece, but he’s aging and probably not enough to get you back to the finals.

For those of you familiar with the strong vs weak link theory that says basketball is a strong link game and you’re only as good as your best player, the Mavs just traded away a top 5 and arguably a top 3 star for a very good star that isn’t always the best player on the floor. This won’t work if you subscribe to that theory.

Cuban isn't majority owner anymore. He sold off like 75% of his shares, if I'm remembering correctly.

I saw someone compare it to trading Joe Burrow for Aaron Rodgers and that’s not far off.
I don’t think it’s quite to that level as Rodger’s is practically at the end of his career. I’d say it’s more like trading Josh Allen or Burrow in the prime of their careers (both 28) and capable of taking their teams to a superbowl for someone like Dak Prescott who is a little older (31), a good to very good QB but probably doesn’t have the star power to get to a Super Bowl with just his talent.

Craziness. Maybe the most surprising trade in the history of the NBA. Makes zero sense.

One of many bizarre considerations: you just took a flyer on perrenial team cancer Kyrie, and it magically works! So what do you do? Mix it up and see if you can disrupt that AND give up the better player.

You're missing that the biggest piece of the trade, JHS, gets a fresh start.
