What do you think of him as a candidate? Having a good season and they just beat Alabama and are currently ranked 15th. I am curious what happened last year as Mizzou went 0-18 in conference play. Other than that he has won at Mizzou and Cleveland State.

I applaud you for throwing out someone new; it's nice to talk about a guy not named Beard or May for a change.

In any case, he's having a great year, and his players seem to like him. His HC history, though, is all over the place. In his short time coaching at Cleveland State and Mizzou, he's had a few really solid seasons ... and a few duds. And his win rate is just 57%. I'm not Dolson, but I can think of a few dozen coaches (present and former) I'd call before DG.

0-18, in any conference, is a bright red flag. Crean even won 1 game with a bunch of HS kids, basically.

What was Lil' Arch's record the year they had that mind-numbing losing streak?
Had last season been DG's first at Mizzou, zero conference wins might be understandable; I don't hold TC's record in Year 1 against him. But he went from 25-10 to 8-24 to (currently) 19-6. That's just ... bizarre. I don't care enough to investigate, but WTF happened last season? How do you win zero conference games with Tamar ****ing Bates on the roster?

Didn't dig that deeply... in a bright red marker, I'd be striking his name off the list, without even interviewing or digging any more deeply.

He would be an upgrade over Woodson, but IU should be looking for a "big fish" type of coach. If it's a true top 5 job (resources, money, NIL, etc), then it shouldn't be a problem to get a top 5 coach.
The only caveat is that it’s a job with top 5 potential, but we haven’t been a top 5 program for decades.

if UNC makes a hire, that’s one place where a coach could go that is a top 5 program, and we’d need to compete for that.

Is Michigan a top 20 program? Maybe, maybe not, but they have a top 20 team. If May left them (a program that has been better than IU for decades), is he going to find himself closer to competing for a B10 title or getting a high seed with a chance of a FF at IU?

Otoh, maybe the difference maker this time is the calendar. In other words, maybe the fact that we can effectively be searching now will be the reason for optimism this time?

Are Scheyer, Hubert Davis, Pope, and Cronin top 5 coaches?

Tamar is one of if not their best player too. Who is hating on Tamar lately btw??? been quiet what about that consistent shit I was hearing earlier this year???

Since we are discussing not talked about coaches. Mitch Henderson. He doesn't have a lot of tournament skins but how do you rack them up at Princeton or any Ivy league school. . Not sure what happened this year as they seem down a bit after 3 conference titles.

I was completely wrong about Tamar. Woody blurs the line between talent and college level productivity. He has matured into a very fine player. Missouri is a bit of a head scatcher but Tamer is solid.

"Let me answer this first,” Gates said. “I don’t approve of anyone directly attacking a great leader, a great young man, a dude who has never gotten in trouble, a guy that has done everything I have asked. I don’t know who he’s talking about.

“He may be confusing somebody for somebody else, but sometimes that happens, and what I’m proud of is you haven’t seen Tamar Bates respond on social media one time. And he keeps his focus because he’s grown from his experience at Indiana. He never says, ‘I wish I never went to Indiana.’ Tamar Bates says, ‘Thank you to Indiana.’ He has great friends. His daughter’s godfather was his teammate.

“So from the Indiana experience, we’re able to see this version of Tamar Bates, and I am absolutely proud of who he is as a man, what he stands for, his leadership qualities. I just want to sometimes make sure that our guys are told the things they’re doing well. It’s not about those types of tweets.”

Any day someone calls out DD is a good day.

Oh, and Dan ... this "Dakich shut down Jordan" narrative that's been floating around for the past 40 years is utter bullshit. Watch the tape.

The **** you talking about?
Just how our fans want to ding candidates for "issues" or unprosecuted failures. Beard has the DV issue that many have ruled him out for, Pearl and Pitino for age as well as their own transgressions, and of course we have the hand-wringers who post when a coach losses a game or looks bad... I sure hope Jesus coaches an uptempo offense or were totally screwed!
