That's not what they claimed. There wasn't supposed to be a Windows 11. They literally said that Windows 10 would be the last Windows you would ever buy, that it would be updated and upgraded incrementally and continuously.
Exactly. The last windows. We were all sold that

Madden 19. FIFA 23. iPhone 16. Windows…. Bs

I watched. I thought we really played well against their size with great D and position rebounding. A break here and a bucket there and they could have pulled it out.

We made some mental errors, missed too many shots. But overall it was a good performance against #4. We made Watkins work hard.

She is a great player but the refs protect her like her name is Mahomes.

Where you there today? We played well overall. We just lack a player that can create on their own
It was a really good game, but so many bunnies that rimmed and went out. They did an excellent job on Juju for most of the game too. ( yep was there. Really fun crowd too) Or like her name is Caitlin,

Yeah I don’t even know. I don’t think most of them come directly from China as they don’t take a long time to get here. Murt ask your daughter to show you.
I just asked her. Here’s the convo
Hey is TikTok like poshmark and ebay
No your company can’t sell stuff there!!!
Is it Nike and Walmart selling?
No. It’s their own stuff. And tons of it is fake too! I love it.

I don’t see the problem. I got upgraded to 11 for free. I don’t care if they call it 11 or 10.39. I’m guessing they make the big bucks on new computers. They certainly made it from me when I had 500 computers at work replaced. ;)

Plenty. I've posted many times in the past about how he contributed to the inflation problem with the stimulus in Dec 2020. I've stated he is a morally repugnant person. I think his recent statement about not ruling out using force for Greenland is ridiculous and dangerous. He's wrong in the way he treats people. I don't like his new tax breaks he promised during the campaign. Matt Gaetz was a disgusting choice. What more do you want?
All that and he's still a far better choice than the Democrats' nominee.

Shipping times have improved greatly over the past two years. I just can’t see some of the things made here. Look at Amazon, Walmart and Target. All cheap Chinese crap, hard to find brands these days.

She’s telling me now that only those already on tik tom get it. It’s removed from the App Store.

“I’m never getting a new phone dad!!!”

Had MSFT kept its promise, you wouldn't have needed to buy all those computers.

I built this desktop in late 2011. It was high end but not cutting edge at the time. Have run a Linux OS on it from the beginning. Updated/upgraded the OS twice -- for free of course. I still haven't been able to justify replacing it.

Nah, the computers had to be replaced.

I used to build my own computers and really enjoyed it, but stopped almost 20 years ago. Get a better and more capable computers off the shelf for less these days. At least for my purposes. I no longer have any interest in gaming like I did back in the day.

Mrs Hooky: I can't find anymore of those wool socks you wear around the house. I've looked everywhere and no one seems to make them.

Me: Probably because I bought them in 1994.
Spot on. And in keeping with @UncleMark all of these companies have figured it out. Derivations of subscription based businesses is where the money is (not gummies 😩). These big youth clubs have as many as 30,000 kids. So they sign with Nike as a supplier. Nike will intentionally discontinue lines. So San Diego surf will say hey the kits are fine but we added 137 kids we need new kits for them. Oh sorry. That line was discontinued. Bam. Now they have to order 7,000 new kits or not have kids grow or add players instead of buying 137 kits

Oh yeah. We no longer resell software with a perpetual license grant. It's all either term or Software as a Service. Miss an annual or quarterly payment? Shut it off. Can't get it replaced with another product before the contract expiration? Renew for 3 more yrs or its shut off.

Hate it. Makes things so adversarial.

Smart business. Back to your other post. Think of those champion sweatshirts from the early 90s. The expensive ones. They’re the only things that survived the palisades fire. They’re sitting in the rubble still wearable. Contrast that with a pos new under armour hoodie

Burn vs Melt

I'll guarantee that plenty of NB mowing and grilling shoes survived, but there isn't a swoosh or 3 stripe within the burn zone.

On the business comment, it puts us in the middle of an industry shift that we can't control. Actually lost a fairly sizable customer this year over it.

Re losing a customer why do they do it then?

I can appreciate SaaS if it's web/browser based, simply because it's OS agnostic. Tax Act requires a supported Win OS for it's downloaded, locally run offering. I kept a load of W7 around just for that purpose, but when the drive holding W7 crapped out a year or more ago I did some digging and lo and behold, the Tax Act online version -- that they offered for MacOS users -- turned out to happily work with my now outdated load of Debian. Google keeps updating it's Debian offering for Chrome, so I'm good to go.

Because wall street no longer measures them on net new license growth and annual renewals for maintenance. They measure them on monthly recurring revenue, which can only be forecasted if you've got an end date on an agreement.

Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet

Back in the day I found myself building one or two a month, mostly for my workplace at the time. For $300 I could throw together a darn good office machine, and could use an IU version of XP or W7 for nothing. By the time I left, IU had cracked down on using their licenses and ISOs and it became smarter to buy a three year old machine from IU Surplus for $175 with the current Win OS included.

That campus is now Oracle and then Duffield started Workday when the non-compete was up and they now have a huge presence too.

Been out here since the 7th. Leaving on Thursday to return to freezing temps. I've been in shirt sleeves the whole time and it's been glorious. Ridiculous how expensive it's gotten though.

Seems like you could have made a business out of that with some advertising

Interesting. He went to oracle. I don’t know that world. Anderson consulting peoplesoft oracle Accenture in some order was his path before edibles.

I loved it out there. He’d go to work and I’d take the Bart to the city and hood around. Link up at night to go to the bars and clubs. Was a great summer.

You’re out there a lot

I built a number for paying customers as well. I built the work computers on company time with company money. I mostly did computer repairs, cleaning up infected and corrupted Windows machines and taking care of the occasional hardware issue. Fixing Windows XP kept us afloat during the Great Recession.

Wifey grew up here and her dad is still here. Sadly, we came out for Thanksgiving and he went to ER the first week of December. I came back out to help at the rehab center so she could get a break occasionally and now we're in an argument with her brother and his wife about hospice at home or in this facility.

Father time is undefeated.

Shit. 🙏🙏🙏.

Thanks. It's been a downhill slide since my MiL passed in '21. COPD has finally caught up to him.

He's a helluva guy. I won the father in law lottery.
Hate hearing that 😞. I know the feeling. My ex is awful. Cannot stand her. But a good mom and her dad and grandpa are two of my all time favorite people. Just like you said lottery lucky to have them
