Who cares? The hundreds of St. John fans? It's okay to support piece of crap humans. I'm not into that.
From what I know about Beard’s history, I’d be just fine with him being hired. People make mistakes.
But I don’t think it’ll happen. I think we’ll hire one of those other “great coaches” who will turn out to not be so great when he gets here. And I think we’ll be right back here discussing his replacement in a few years.
And this is why we can’t seem to get beyond mediocrity.

Just from a basketball perspective (forget the hireability angle for a second), who are these "great coaches" who are available right now? Pitino might be a dirt bag in his personal life, but he's easily one of the best living college basketball coaches. His opinion is that Beard is a Top 3-5 coach in the country right now. Who is in that same level that is available in this hiring cycle?
Correct. We never learn. We had the chance last year to fire Mike freaking Woodson and hire Bruce Pearl or worst case scenario Dusty May. Yet they chose to bring back Woodson. By far, the most incompetent administration in the history of sports.
Man, I was among several people here cheering for Bruce Pearl back when we hired Davis, Sampson, and Crean. Probably Miller, too.
I watched his USI teams and knew that the guy could flat out coach. I’m not at all surprised at the success he’s had at Auburn. Friggin’ Auburn!
But, oh no, we don’t want his kind here. Not at Indiana. We’re better than that. I’ve finally thrown in the towel on him.
Dumb. Nobody here has anything to do with choosing the next basketball coach.
Last time we hired a solid basketball coach with a shady past, we ended up shitting the bed. If we hire Beard, all it will take is one little misstep and it will completely blow up in our faces. This next hire will be our 4th coach in 8-9 years. Not sure IU can afford to take the risk at this point.
We could call the Pope or Dalai Lama or Sir Lancelot the white knight and see if they want the job?

I’m saying that this view is pervasive in the culture of our program. It extends to fans, boosters, and administrators alike. And understandably so - Bob Knight was our coach for 29 years.
But he’s been gone almost 25 years now. And how’s that turned out for us?
We could have had Sampson for the past 20 years and won big. Phone calls were a non-issue.
The truth is somewhere in between regarding Beard's DV incident, and his situation can happen to anybody, which is the scary thing. Does he deserve a second chance, and has he learned anything and evolved? That is the 64K question.
I disagree. Knight is dead and gone. I think everyone, boosters included, are moving on. That doesn't mean IU has to hire a coach that has proven to be a high risk for something other than not winning enough. I think there are plenty of coaches that could win hundreds of games here that aren't carrying wierd baggage.
I understand and respect your point. I want the best possible coach. I hope Pitinos endorsement gets him a meeting with Scott Dolson. Give the man a chance to speak on this, because it's out there that he wants the gig. My list of coaches that check all of the boxes is pretty short and they all have baggage. Pitino is at the top of that list.
Maybe just keep Woody and end all this hysteria? Give him a raise also?

It is the slowest and TMP pointed it out weeks ago. The question is does he run that system to win with the talent he has? He might but should IU take that risk? Probably win a bunch of games but that system won’t attract championship type talent.
Really! But yet some people on here wanted Bennett or McCollum. Beard is a defensive guy but his offense still puts up points.

It should be a no brainer. If he is guilty he shouldn't be hired. If he isn't guilty, he should be hired. Dolson needs to vet him and make the decision.

The reality is Indiana is hiring a basketball coach who can win titles. Chris Beard is should be considered and hired unless there is a clearly better candidate, which there are a few but Dusty signed a deal and Brad isn’t coming. so it keeps getting shorter.

Look. Nobody cares. Donors don’t care. He’s a loser and the fans still don’t care about the fight, they care about the losing, imagine if he was a winner they’d never even know. The staff doesn’t care. The players don’t care. The media doesn’t care. Nobody cares.
I keep seeing stories on us losing and being a loser program and I keep seeing stories of beard and pitino and few and all the other winners being winners and nobody cares if they cheated or drank or flirted or whatever.
Maybe, maybe not. Ole Miss hired him not long after the he was let go by Texas and the charges were dropped. He didn't even a miss a season. Dolson should still do his do diligence.
My brother in law is an Ol Miss alum. Some donors won’t give NIL because of his rep. I’ll be shocked if Whitten signs off on Beard. History says she won’t.

You are correct. Perhaps it is just coincidence that UCLA, Louisville and UK all found better candidates than Beard.
Weird how Beard is tops on our fans lists but didn’t get a sniff from other Bluebloods. 😉 why is that?
