I am a big fan and follow the Hoosiers, but I am not the best person to answer this. Thank you for the inquiry. I know we have some experience returning, but we need to fill the catching spot and may juggle the infield corner positions to find a solid starting infield. Pitching is available, but need to fill in the last couple of starters. Outfield may be a rotation to see who fits best, but we have talent to do so; same with the relievers.

Overall, we will be a solid hitting team top to bottom (may do some small ball) and I hope the pitching develops and fills in. The defense has potential. Top 25, I doubt, but you never know.
I think the B10 will be solid, but I don't think the pollsters know what to do with them. The northern team don't get a lot of respect. I think Maryland will be a factor; several teams. It will be a fun season.

I am really excited to see the season start and plan to catch the Indiana team play in Lincoln, NE late season and in Omaha for the B10 Tourney.

I welcome those in the know to comment in the discussion.

I'll take some time in the next few weeks and post a more detailed pre season analysis. This teams should be a top half B10 team, and could possibly end up a top 25 team. Teams strength is its veteran pitchers. Likely see a weekend rotation of Hart, Barager, and Bell. Really good/young mid week guys in Herrin and Stievers. Kelzer likely your closer, but could be a mid relief/multi-inning closer. Lots of options around the infield in Cangi, Butler, Holdsworth, Pasteur, Leggett, Wilhite, Miller, Ramos. Top outfield guys likely Deedlow, Sowers, Krupa, Eustace. You will likely see a lot of lineup tinkering. This team has lots of speed and power in the middle of the order. Catcher likely A combination of Fineman, Webb, and Estes. Fineman the better offensive option. Lots of stuff I could add. Practice starts end of this month.

This team looks like it'll start off raw so to speak, but once they get some time together, I could see them gelling later on. You can never go wrong with pitching and baring just major injuries, we have a deep staff with middle to late inning kids to work with.

Looking forward to your preview. I'm also really curious about what Krupa will bring. I know a Reds scout and he just salivated over this kid since his HS days. They've drafted him twice. I know he's fast.....but can he hit?

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 19th year with its 2016 weekly surveys. Florida tops this year’s preseason poll after finishing No. 3 in the final 2015 rankings. It is the second time in the past five years that the Gators have held the top spot, as they ranked first to begin the 2012 season.

Florida is among nine SEC teams that are ranked in the preseason poll, more than any other league. The SEC also produced four of the top seven schools, with Vanderbilt at No. 3, Texas A&M at No. 4 and LSU at No. 7. Second-ranked Louisville leads a trio of ACC teams in the top eight, with Miami (Fla.) placing sixth and Virginia coming in at No. 8. The Pac-12 had five teams ranked in the poll, while the Big 12 had four.

The poll voters come from 42 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 22 NCBWA DI survey.

Previous No. 1 entries on the preseason NCBWA rankings have been LSU in the 1998, 2001 and 2009 polls, Southern California (1999), Miami (Fla.) (2000), Stanford (2002), Texas (2003, 06, 10), Rice (2004, 07), Cal State Fullerton (2005, '14), Arizona State (2008), North Carolina (2009), TCU (2011), Florida (2012), Arkansas (2013) and Vanderbilt (2015).

The current survey has representation by 11 different conferences among the 302 baseball-playing schools in the 2016 NCAA Division I ranks. The rankings of 2015 had 16 different DI conferences rated at least one week. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to www.ncbwa.com.
