Crazy ending.

Coby White is the all time leading scorer in North Carolina
He is their Damon Bailey.
Not really. HS bball is just not a "thing" here. There are a few select schools, but around Charlotte the names that people remember from HS ball are Worthy, Sleepy Floyd, Walter Davis and Antawn Jamison. I remember when I moved here East Mecklenburg had just won a state title and I lived around the corner, and had read a profile and their coach was from IN, and they had a really good player so I went to watch a game. Walk in and literally there are like 4 rows of pull out bleachers. Maybe 200 people there, and this is the defending 4A state champ. People were walking on the court during the game to get to/from their seat. I asked someone why they were playing in their practice gym, and they said practice gym??? Football is king, then I'd say baseball and even soccer. Schools also seem to specialize more and there are a couple areas where bball is more highly thought of, but it's not even 10% as popular as in IN. It is big news when any kid signs with the Heels though; that gets noticed. But, I doubt most UNC fans even know Coby White played in NC, let alone is the all time scoring leader. I didn't, and I try and pay attention to such things.

So he would not be as revered

So he would not be as revered as Bailey. I can understand it.

Similar situation here in the DC Metro/Maryland. Hard core hoop junkies might be able to tell you who the defending city (DC) or state (MD) champions are, but even among basketball fans most people have no idea. Individual D1 prospects get more attention than HS tournament games.
